- The mother dies and is seen lying dead on the floor. The kids store her in a cellar, where decay sets in (not visually obvious, but the stench is mentioned), then they wrap her body and move her to a barn. The youngest son maintains a candlelight vigil. All of this may be disturbing to some viewers, and it continues throughout a large part of the film.
