Adequate documentary, but felt a bit superficial...

I happened to get my chance now in 2020 to sit down and watch the 2012 documentary titled "From Romero to Rome: The Rise and Fall of the Italian Zombie Movie", and let me just be the first to say that I needed absolutely no persuasion to do so.

I am an immense fan of everything zombie, so of course I sat down to watch this. And I must admit that I was actually looking forward to watching it, regardless of not ever having heard about it.

Well, my expectations were short-lived, because "From Romero to Rome: The Rise and Fall of the Italian Zombie Movie" wasn't particularly interesting. Sure, it had some good enough contents and some nice enough information about the Italian zombie scene. But ultimately, it really didn't prove to be all that interesting.

I can now tick it off of my watched-list, and it can be filed into the zombie archive. However, it is very unlike that it will ever be brought out again to be watched a second time; so a future of dust and cobwebs looms ahead for this 2012 documentary from director Calum Waddell.

"From Romero to Rome: The Rise and Fall of the Italian Zombie Movie" is adequate enough if you are a newcomer to the zombie genre and would like some information about the early formative years of the zombie genre. It has some nice enough bits and pieces of information here and there, but ultimately it just felt rushed and superficial, not really delving into the subject at a more gratifying manner.

I am rating "From Romero to Rome: The Rise and Fall of the Italian Zombie Movie" a mediocre five out of ten stars.
