On par with the first movie
arcanestudy23 November 2023
Saw another review talking about the "magic" of the first film and how (basically) this movie is a disgrace to the "good burger" name but... come on.... the first movie wasn't really that great either. Ya im sure I enjoyed it more cause I was a kid and if I let myself be blinded by nostalgia I would hate this movie in comparison but both movies have the same ridiculous plot, silliness, corny acting, and over the top childish humor.

I actually kinda enjoyed watching it even though it definitely doesn't deserve anything above a 6/10 - the first movie had some special charm but let's not pretend it was a masterpiece. I actually expected this movie to be really bad so I went in with low expectations but about halfway through I realized it's actually pretty spot on quality wise when compared with the first movie.

That "special charm" of the first movie probably had everything to do with the time it came out and the fact that I was a kid then and that's the target audience! Sure there were some really memorable scenes from the first one but if I really go back and analyze I can't say it was really thaaat much better than this. I'd say the 1st was 6.5/10 (probably a 9/10 in my kid brain) so only a little bit better - I rewatched it in recent years and remember being really underwhelmed and thinking "this didn't age well" and "this was all so much better in my memory."

Point is... its about what you would expect.

Harmless Fun!
djrmc2425 November 2023
Good Burger 2 took me back in time to the original which was both a good thing and a difficult one. It reminded me how cliche and cheesy the original film was. Good Burger is just like the original but amplify it by 10x. Now don't get me wrong I had a good time with this film as it was harmless and didn't do anything to reinvent the genre. It was good seeing the original cast come back for this one. You can tell they had a good time marking this movie which hopefully rubs off on you. If you did not enjoy the first one at all then please don't bother with this one. Good Burger 2 gets a middle of the road 6 stars out of 10 from me.

Great Nostalgia, But The Rest...
kurtbozwell24 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think you'll notice by my username that I'm a big fan of the original. And the first 20-30 minutes or so of the sequel really delivered for fans like myself. The yo-yo/grape nose boy scene was a nice touch, and even the quickest dialogue such as the strawberry jacuzzi callback had me smiling ear to ear. There's even a Kenan & Kel show nod. But overall, it just doesn't recapture the same essence of the first movie.

I'm not asking for the perfect comedy movie, either. It's based off of an All That sketch, so I don't have a problem suspending reality a little bit. However, the sequel relied a bit too much on slapstick humor for my liking. There's dopey security guards at the doorstep of a billion dollar corporation, a couple of driving scenes that felt redundant, and a fart joke that just doesn't land. Ed also owns the restaurant and has an entire family complete with a wife and kids, which is information that is just given to you but never really elaborated upon.

The main villain also isn't introduced until probably two thirds of the way through the movie, and although I enjoyed her plan and motivation, she still just wasn't that interesting. This kind of threw off the overall pacing of the movie. And I know! It sounds sort of ridiculous to complain about because it's a kids movie about a couple of guys working at a burger joint. But while I was watching, I couldn't help but feel that way.

I swear that my expectations weren't sky high. I just wanted it to feel like the original, and although it started that way, I felt like I was losing connection a little bit as it went on. Because of the years between the release of the original and the sequel, I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that the main consumers of this movie might be 28-40 year old dudes (we're all dudes, after all).

Really boring and not funny at all
yuliethvelyn3 December 2023
I used to love Kennan and Kel when I was a kid, I remember laughing soooo much every time! So I watched this movie expecting I was going to have a good laugh or at least a good time but I just got a big disappointment, I wanted to stop watching the movie after 30min but I kept watching til the end to see if at some point it will turn better but nope it didn't happen, just a waste of time 🙃 I'm guessing certain people might like it (honestly I can't imagine who would like it) but overall I will never recommend this movie sadly, I honestly really expected to like it! :(( after so many years from the first one the can't say they didn't had enough time to be creative and funny 🤣

Silly and fun
akshatmahajan22 November 2023
After watching the original one, I was excited for the sequel. I had kept my expectations low as I was not sure about the sequel.

For me, the movie was both silly and fun. The story was simple and childish (which it was meant to be) and story's concept was same as the original, the screenplay was an improvement over the original, the direction was simple and good and the performances were good. The humour was uneven, somewhere you laugh and somewhere the jokes fail to make you laugh.

Overall, it is a childish silly movie which is enjoyable to watch with your friends and family just like the original.

So bad
adamant-8986325 November 2023
I saw part 1 in theaters when I was 10 years old. Grew up watching that orange VHS and later I got the DVD. The first movie is genuinely funny, charming and full of entertainment. Not a dull moment. This sequel is so painfully boring, cringeworthy and NOT funny. Everything is forced. There was maybe 2 moments of the movie that I even smiled at. I literally did not laugh once. The first movie has me laughing constantly even after all the times I've seen it. This movie felt so forced, I rolled my eyes so many times. It's almost the same plot as the original too. Avoid this awful movie at all costs!!!

Welcome back to good burger
d_penn30 November 2023
If you grew up watching Keenan and kel, All that, and good burger then you will like this movie. Its not going to win any awards but it made me laugh quite a bit with kels stupid antics. Without spoilers there's some epic non good burger cameos that I really appreciated. It's a stupid movie with a whole bunch of stupid jokes based around a really stupid concept in the first place. I really enjoyed it and a firm 3/5 stars is respectable for what it was and could be. It was just great to see both of them dudes back at it and honestly Kel stole the show! This movie was creatively great! So much nostalgia.

A hot mess
Couchzilla23 November 2023
I'm a 90's kid I grew up loving "All That", "Kenan & Kel", and the first "Good Burger" movie. This movie started off good and strong, but then it quickly went south.

The film focuses too much on Ed. The pacing gets slowed down and caught up on Ed's over the top jokes for too long. I understand Ed is a bit of a dumb goofy character, but they REALLY upped the "dumb" on this movie.

Although I loved seeing Kenan and Kel back together again as well as some old familiar faces, I will never understand how the writers in this movie thought they created a good final product.

Sequels are usually never as good as the original, but the writers in this movie made SURE this sequel wouldn't be as good.

I really wanted this movie to succeed, but I can't lie to myself. I was really disappointed.

Good for what it is
TMoneyDogVIP23 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As a die-hard Good Burger fan, I have been very excited for the second film. While being excited, I knew not to have my expectations too high going into this film. I was not disappointed with the second film after keeping an open mind going in.

It was great to see some returning cast members from the first film. We had a good mix of celebrities/YouTube stars in the film as well.

GB2 holds a real life relevancy to the real world with fast food workers being replaced by robots. The continued story from the OG, Dex still up to his manipulating ways but learning his lesson after all is said and done.

Overall, if you watched and enjoyed and the first Good Burger, you should certainly watch Good Burger 2! Going in with an open mind, and enjoy the nostalgia! Solid 6/10 for me, enjoyed myself, was good to see this after 26 years since the first!

It's not awful, but not the best
drewaugustinwork22 November 2023
This movie still has a lot of the charm from the original, mainly in the dynamic between Ed and Dexter, which is what brings it up to this point. On the other hand, a lot of the plot points feel a little forced. It seems like it is trying too hard to appeal to a younger audience than to focus on a plot, which severely degrades the movie. It is also a lot less down to Earth, which takes out some of the charm that the first one had, which felt at least realistic to an extent. Overall, it holds a candle to the original in some ways, yet falls flat in many others, making it much more of a new business venture than an act of fan service to people who love the original.

Great time, Great nostalgia!
skylerrossparker-0985123 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was honestly pretty great! I had plenty of laughs throughout. I was born in 88 so I was a kid when the original came out and I must had watched that bright orange VHS tape over 100 times. I absolutely love the original. I had my daughter (7yrs old) watch the original with me getting ready for the release of Good Burger 2 and she enjoyed both as well.

The story was well enough for this type of buddy comedy to enjoy. The first 30 mins or so brought on a bunch of throw backs from the original (which was to be expected). They brought the main villain into the story a little late. I feel like she almost seemed a little like an after thought. But she had some funny moments so it was fine. Overall, the story was pretty similar to the first. Only instead of it being another burger chain, an evil corporation buys out Good Burger and takes over. Wasn't a bad idea. But did feel a little similar to the first in some ways.

The acting from Dexter and Edd were both pretty spot on. Didn't feel like they really missed a beat. There were a few lines from Edd that I feel, made him out to be a little too dumb. Like, the first GB Edd was believably dumb in a silly way. A few times in GB2 Edd was just way too dumb in a cringy way that wasn't funny. But it was only a few so it didn't ruin the character. For the most part he was pretty spot on.

Bring in Edds kids was great. His son was exactly like him. Perfectly cast for his character. The other new employees all felt fun and silly in their own ways. Overall, nobody felt out of place (except the "main" villain character. I forget her name. But she was still fine.

I conclusion, if you go in expecting a fun blast of Good Burger nostalgia that doesn't take anything too seriously, you should be pleased.

Made with heart for the fans
TheBeardedWonder26 November 2023
Look this isn't a perfect flick. If you don't have a fondness for the original it's probably going to be downright silly and not very good.

But it has a ton of heart and nails the overall vibe of its first movie much much better than most sequels that come out 20 years later do. It's clearly made as a labor of love for the fans and for the performers to enjoy themselves and catch up with friends.

It's obvious nobody got paid massive amounts of money for this - in fact the budget may be even lower than the original. But who cares! The jokes are still the same, the actors are still bringing it and enjoying themselves, and the whole thing is just like the first - a fun way to spend 90mins laughing at simple jokes and watch kenan/kel absolutely kill it.

They're great in the leads and it's like nothing has changed between them despite everyone being quite a bit older. Just go in knowing its very simple and cheap, but also tries its hardest to keep up the spirit of the original.

Unnecessary Sequel.
cascascinemareceipts24 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
'Good Burger 2' follows the return of Ed and Dexter as they reunite to help save the iconic and much loved fast-food restaurant, 'Good Burger' from falling into the wrong hands. Also introducing a new generation of employees.

Going into this movie, I made sure to keep my expectations tame. At the end of the day it is a reboot/sequel, that typically are either hit or miss. However, I was intrigued by nostalgia. But I must say... This film is a big MISS.

Firstly, there are the odd moments sprinkled throughout the film that pay homage to the original. Which I did appreciate having grown up with the first movie. However, I didn't really enjoy myself whilst watching. The film suffers as it's overloaded with too much modern day pop culture references and a mediocre plot.

There are a few story elements included in this movie that I find myself either irritated by, or just don't understand the reason to include such themes. For example, Ed's children. There's like 8 of them, and one just so happens to be an exact copy and paste of Ed. Overly dumbed down with a raspy voice. I found this to be a rather annoying inclusion.

Another pet peeve of this film, is the random inclusion of celebrity cameos. There is a whole montage of self-recorded footage of random celebrities singing about Good Burger? This movie also had mini random musical sequences that came out of nowhere.

The new characters in this film also serve little to no purpose. Perhaps one of the more uninteresting parts of this movie. Which is sad, as I would've hoped to have left the film having enjoyed some of the fresh choices they introduced.

To conclude, I severely wasted my time watching 'Good Burger 2' if you're intrigued in the slightest. Just rewatch the first. Save yourself the headache.

Embarrassing movie
romans-808294 December 2023
I enjoyed the first good burger from watching all that on Nickelodeon. Good burger 2 was a disappointment. Too many stale recycled jokes from the 90s. Kel wore a ton of pancake makeup to hide his age for the ed character. Ed's dumb humor was over the top and just wasn't funny.

Ed seemed like he was on the autism spectrum. Which is never to made be fun of. Jokes that were funny in the 90s don't always translate to the modern age.

The character development was flimsy. Even humorous character can grow or learn something over a decade.

Actors were too old to play the roles. Everyone involved in the production of this mess should be embarrassed.

Good Burger 2 - On par with the first movie
PeriBloxV225 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So, I just finished watching Good Burger 2, and i gotta say it's alright, on par with the first movie. The characters are just as likeable, the plot is just as goofy (if not a bit more) and overall I really enjoyed myself with this. Here are my thoughts and feelings.

First of all, the main characters are still very likeable, and I feel like they're even better now. I love the character dynamic between them now with Ed being chaotic and ignorant to everything around them, with Dexter just being along for the ride. It was really fun to watch, and I feel the humor also improved a bit.

Another thing I want to walk about is the humor. Apart from one fart joke, all the jokes were pretty solid. Now i'm not trying to say that this film is the pinnacle of comedy, niether was the first movie, but there was still a handful of jokes that got a smile out of me, they also went all in with the slapstick jokes, which I enjoyed and felt works with this movie, I'd like to see more of them if we ever get a Good Burger 3.

Next, onto the story. The story is alright. It's stilly and goofy, just like the other one. So basically, this film follows Ed being tricked into signing a contract, giving away Good Burger to Katt Bozwell, who is the main villain and is also related to the villain in the first Good Burger, and wants to fire the workers in the original Good Burger location and open more locations around the world using animatronic versions of Ed. So yeah, a lot more goofy than the first movie, which I like. One gripe I have is that it uses the "character signs contract without reading it" cliche, which is a bit annoying, expecially since Dex was there with him and could have read it for him (i know he was tricked into convincing Ed to sign it due to the money, but I still feel he'd be smart enough to read the contract), but for the most part the story was alright, I enjoyed it.

In conclusion, Good Burger 2 is on par with the first one. The story is just as goofy, the characters are just as charming, and the jokes were just as funny. Overall I'd give it a 6.5/10. Thanks for reading :D.

"Good Burger 2": A Cinematic Misadventure into Forgettable Mediocrity"
xxxadolfgaming25 December 2023
This terrible sequel, featuring Pete Davidson and Kenan Thompson, plummets into the abyss of mediocrity, delivering a lackluster narrative riddled with cringe-worthy moments. With a cast that struggles to salvage an incoherent script, "Good Burger 2" becomes a forgettable venture, a disappointing echo of its cult classic predecessor. As the Roman Empire faltered under the strain of external pressures, "Good Burger 2" unwittingly mirrors this decline, stumbling into a narrative void where humor becomes a mere caricature of its former self. The film's thematic shallowness, coupled with its bewildering cast choices, underscores a disquieting trend in contemporary Western civilization. In its retreat into the trivial and the vapid, the movie becomes a harbinger of a potential collapse into a cultural abyss, reminiscent of Rome's eventual fall as it crumbled under the weight of external and internal pressures.

good kind of bad
gehete-4094924 November 2023
This movie can be seen very similarly to the first movie. It is goofy, the characters borderline cartoony, the "vibes" are always present. The main cast hasn't lost its charm, they are still playing off each other and creating just dumb hilarity. It is a good "dumb" movie that you can a good time watching if you do not care much for plot, character, real development or cohesion. The first movie in that regard was way more consistent in telling a narrative with somewhat real stakes and payoff. The underdog story of a burger shops rise to fame thanks to a magical sauce. This movie's plot is mainly there to move sketch like scenes along for the audience to laugh.

Still the sketches are good enough, it is dumb humor, it is humor you are ashamed of admitting made you laugh but it makes you laugh nonetheless.

"Nostalgic Sequel Struggles: A Melody Misfit and Character Conundrum in the 90s Revival"
vau-5184724 November 2023
Crafting a sequel to a beloved 90s film in today's landscape is undoubtedly challenging. Regrettably, this attempt falls short, as characters seem further simplified and the music, although well-intentioned, feels like an ill-fitting accessory to the film-a bit like worn-out socks with new shoes. The narrative is marred by numerous plot holes, leaving viewers perplexed about certain developments.

While the sequel's timing may be considered overdue, the return of childhood favorites is a nostalgic nod. However, the execution disappoints, deviating from what made the original iconic. A shift towards more restaurant scenes and a reduction in musical elements would have maintained the essence of the original, preserving its charm and authenticity. Though this review reflects personal expectations, it acknowledges the challenging task of breathing new life into a classic while honoring its roots.

The classic combo returns
MB-reviewer18526 November 2023
The unexpected sequel to the movie Good Burger (1997) that was based on the skit from the 1994 Nickelodeon show called All That; the first movie Good Burger (1997) was ok but even though it had some good comedy in it, it was not that funny despite actors Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson giving good performances, and now we have the sequel I was not expecting. I thought Good Burger 2 (2023) was a bit better than the first but not completely better; the return of the lead actors Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson was nice to see back in the roles, there were a few more things I found funny, and despite there still being issues, I liked how things have changed since the first film.

Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson once again as Ed and Dexter are still good in the roles, and they work well together; Ed is still not that smart like before, but he has a family, runs Good Burger, and calls all the shots to what happens to Good Burger building which I found interesting for the character and how much he changed since the first. Dexter is now known for inventing things that does not turn out well, which leads him going back to working at Good Burger with his friend Ed; I thought it was interesting that his character went to inventing things with him having a corporation before he loses it because of money issues, along with him helping Ed to get back Good Burger after an incident accidentally selling it to a big corporation. Plus, all the performances are over the top like the first film, but it is not too in your face, along with the new workers at Good Burger being different but like how the older workers acted.

The villains involve Jillian Bell and Lil Rel Howery who wants Ed to sign over Good Burger with his special sauce to them and have robots that all look like Ed to take orders, make the food, and serve it, while making the original Good Burger workers unemployed; Jillian Bell's character has a reason for doing this I will not spoil, but it connects to the villain of the first movie, and Lil Rel Howery's character is the one that convinces Ed and Dexter to sign over Good Burger, both giving over the top performances but not bad ones. The comedy in the movie was funny mostly because I did not know what to expect, but some of the movie felt like side stories or like an episode of a show that does not connect much to the plot, and though there were quite a few funny moments, there were still comedy moments that did not fully work but they were not painful to watch.

A lot of people who like the original first movie will like this sequel, along with them liking that they get to see Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson work together again; Good Burger 2 (2023) had comedy that more often but not the whole movie, with good performances from Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson, and some development of the characters years later. I thought the first movie Good Burger (1997) was ok with a little bit of the comedy working, so that is why I thought Good Burger 2 (2023) was a little bit better, but not by much, because it is like the first movie in a way with the callbacks. If you were not a fan of the first movie, then you will not like this movie, but if you are a fan of the first film, then you will like this sequel that took 26 years to come out.

For the Fans
Venture82523 November 2023
The best way to describe this film is definitely "for the fans".

Chances are 26 years after the first film, that most of the audience will be older now, but it's chance to relive nostalgia for those, and make them feel like children again. It still contains lots of silly jokes. In my opinion, it's not as good as the first, but considering how low my hopes were for this film since the actors are older, also using a different director, I was pleasantly surprised.

Lots of surprise collaborations such as Yung Gravy, Kai Cenat, Mark Cuban, Pete Davidson etc which made the film feel like a fever dream at some points.

The film does seem to follow a similar plot to the last one, but still retains that "stupid" humor while managing to be somewhat new.

If you're thinking of watching this film without watching the other, don't bother. Watch the first film, then this or you probably won't get it. This film is not to stand out or make any marks, it's simply for the fans.

jkb20127 January 2024
As someone who grew up with the original classic all I have to say is well that this new sequel is very Wacky and hilarious and puts a smile on your face however the heart of the movie is Ed and Dexter if they didn't work the sequel didn't work I definitely think that this is a solid sequel and recommend anyone who was a fan of the original to watch this one also the fact that Dexter went off and left good burger was also interesting and Ed states the same was very hilarious I highly recommend this film and I definitely hope that it Will get a third movie if it does well it's a good watch there's fan service which is pretty cool.

Give Good Burger Back
tkentsh23 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Why make a sequel if you can't get all the original cast back? Where's Deedee? Where's Sinbad? Where's Linda Cardellini? SNL cast were unnecessary.

Ed's son in the movie did a great job and Dexter's niece was cool. Cool to see Shar and George Clinton but would have been nice if they were actually on set. The lunch scene was good but just not as memorable as the dinner date in the first one. Also the escape scene was not as good.as the mental asylum as the first one. I had low expectations and didnt expect much and that's what this was. I hope Ken and Kel enjoyed making it and reuniting for it but overall there was really no point.

a very so so follow up to a hammy good time film
mdyoungpeter-6331123 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I just want to say having been a fan of the original good burger even given the fact that its not a great film but the thing is it was funny and you could tell that kenan and Kel were having a lot of fun and I liked the fact that the film was about just regular average joes fighting against a bigger restaurant with bigger burgers sure the baddies were over the top and all but I still enjoyed it for what it was. This movie on the other hand has a few funny jokes the one with Lori Beth Denberg at the start of the film was great because it felt like a scene straight out of all that her acting is very underrated the scene with fizz halfway through the film where its revealed that he had been frozen.in the freezer for 22 years was funny as well. But that's about where the positives end for me first let me just say I actually in real life work at a fast food restaurant and let me tell you all of the good burger workers even though I know its just a movie could never ever work at one in real life because its a very hard business to work in. That aside the villains in this were not as great they would have been much better off bringing the villain from the first film Kurt Boswell back I actually thought they were going to do that. But surprise it was the younger sister of Kurt cat Boswell all along and the worst part is nothing happens to her at the end of the film Kurt gets freaking arrested at the end of the first film because he was using the illegal food addent at the end of the film he even goes so far as to send ed and dexter to a mental institution to keep them from going to the authorities. What I am saying is even though the first film was a sloppy mess of a film a lot of the story beats actually make sense to what's going on ed creates a sauce that gives good burger business over mondo burger so Kurt beefs up his burgers in response in this movie cat Boswells main goal is to replace human workers with robots that was her master plan that was the only true message that this movie gives off well robots could never replace human workers no matter how flawed human workers are they are much better than robots. And the last thing is the other good burger worker characters were so much better in the first film even the guy who swatted flies on his face had more personality than any of the characters in this film which is tough because they weren't the worst characters but there is no character development. So I'm sorry to say guys I think you should pass on this one I wish I had 4/10 for me.

It's fine
phenomynouss1 January 2024
I was an avid Nickelodeon watcher as a child, and very well acquainted with Good Burger, the film and the sketches, as well as Kenan and Kel with their own spinoff show.

Then I grew up and grew out of Nickelodeon. But now almost 30 years later comes a sequel. Standard reflex for such news and things is to automatically assume it will suck and is a cheap nostalgia cash-grab.

It's not. It's fine. Some actual effort into many aspects of this; for one, Dexter's attitude towards Ed has clearly changed since the first film, as he's a lot more tolerant of his wacky antics, but in a realistic way, not in a "ignoring the crazy guy now" way.

A lot of the humor is broad and slapstick, obvious for a movie essentially meant for children (although at one point someone says "ass").

What surprised me was that there were actual genuinely funny jokes and gags that worked even on adults. A lot more than I expected.

I'm not one who is taken in by nostalgia alone, and it has its share of flaws, so the highest praise can give this movie is if I had to watch it again, I would not mind it.
