The entire production of the film, including the conception of the idea through to the final edit, started at 7pm on Friday 28th September 2012 and concluded 48 hours later at 7pm on Sunday 30th. The film was a part of a 48 hour filmmaking challenge run by the Raindance Film Festival in London.
Given the nature of the production, there was no script used for the shoot. The story was collaboratively written by the entire production team and a lot of the actions and dialogue were improvised by the actors on set. As a silent film, it didn't matter what they ended up saying.
Originally titled 'The Purple Door'.
The colour purple was used as a recurring visual motif throughout the film and was intended to be an omen due to the common connotations of that specific colour in film.
The production was not funded and was shot entirely in the Executive Producer's home and surrounding area. The actors provided their own costumes for the shoot.
