A Good Message,

A Tree Grows In Springfield is a great Simpsons episode with a lot of very funny scenes. Its not the best episode of the twenty fourth season so far,but its still a very enjoyable episode and I thought that the message it gave us about hope was very sweet and really made me good about how touching the Simpsons can be.I also really enjoyed the animated short at the end,I know it was only added in to fill more time but I thought it was really good and it took me back to really early Disney and Warner Brothers cartoons that I watched when I was A child.

Homer becomes depressed when his new obsession, his myPad,is destroyed, but finds hope when a 'miracle tree' grows in their backyard.

I really enjoyed "A Tree Grows in Springfield" episode. Can't wait to see it again. So many references I lost count. Forgot to record. The messages it revealed were so relevant to todays distractions. Made me think of the time I spend online. The whole concept of Hope in a time when this world is in chaos can definitely be a motivator to do something about our difficulties. I can identify with so much in this episode. I am grateful that I do not have a smart phone, ipad, or any of the newest gizmos that cause people to retreat into a cyber world and become trapped. The extent of my technological education is intermediate at best. I have a 7 year old tracfone and a laptop and that's all I want.

Warning: Spoilers
It's raining outside and the house is starting to leak. Homer then goes to Moe's sad that he feels depressed about life. When the Duff man is called in to help he is unable to make him feel happy and he also makes everyone else around him miserable to. Homer gets home and has to go to the school for a fundraiser for the older. The big prize is a MyPad that Homer wins and it makes his life better for the day. When Homer try's the MyPad first he seems to love it. Homer continues to use his pad causing trouble also making him seem not interested in anything else. When Homer fell down the man hole his MyPad was broken and he lost it. The next day Ned shows Homer a tree with Hope on it which Ned believes is a sign from god that he will always be there looking out for him. At Mass on Sunday Homer takes it over by believing even more in Hope. Channel 6 news then try's to see that the tree is fake but everyone believes it and does not question it. The hope tree is then revealed to be fake as someone put Maple syrup on it. When Jomer finally leaves the tree we find out that it is Homer sleep walking painting Hope onto the tree. A short little animation about toys ends the episode which does not feel connected to the rest if the show. OK episode overall.

EPISODE GRADE: C (MVP: Dan Castellaneta)
