Killer Grams and Femme Fatales
daytradermillion20 August 2022
With a tint of Detective and a pinch of Autopsy, Deadly Wives (LMN) has given us a limited series in an otherwise drought genre of killer wives.

Reminiscent of the series Autopsy (HBO), we have the ominous narration, plethora of witnesses and first-hand accounts, actual interviews, and forensic science.

Do we really know any one that well?

A short-lived series, Deadly Wives proves that a book cannot be judged by its thinly-pressed cover. The series shatters the one-way-glass stereotype of first appearances as we traverse the lives of from passive grandmas, sweet soccer moms, church leaders, to outright very hard-hearted black widows.

One of the best shows in True Crime...
katefrichardson17 February 2023
... and there are a LOT.

So obviously I won't get into the rest except to whoever may read this: This is what true crime shows are MEANT to be like.

UNBELIEVABLE stories. It's not Unsolved Mysteries... where there is (usually) no justice in the end. It's like a bootleg 20/20... where the same profilers are interviewed and only have some true eye accounts or witnesses. It's mostly the story and the actors portraying the roles. But unlike the two? The stories get into HEAVY detail and justice is MOSTLY served.

Each episode keeps things short and swift on time, featuring three different stories, but each under the same theme. So, they'll be an episode on women who gambled too much (Gambling Lives Away), then an episode of women with green eyes (Green Eyed Monster)... you get the picture.

Believing whole-heartedly throughout how the producers got these actors to play these roles(!!!), let's just say... I'm still not over some of these episodes... but don't let that scare you. This is a GREAT show.

As they say... "There are some crazy b*tches out there."

But knowing not ALL women act that way... much alone think any word of the sort... makes it watchable as well.

Some episodes definitely require an empty stomach, just so you're warned!

Yet, worth the educational watch.

Especially for the friends and family involved in each episode and story... I wish all the best in finding out what happened. I'm with you.

9/10.

Blanche Taylor Moore

Watching the show makes me think of the true story of: Blanche Taylor Moore. She was definitely a black widow on so many different level!!!!! All she mostly thought of was money. I guess that was more important then human life itself! She had no compassion towards anyone else at all except herself. It's like no one really knew her! All her background stories that was told was differently each day that went by!! If anyone got in her way it's like that person might as well labeled themselves with a tag price! Unfortunately her husband's paid the price! No one even mattered even if it was family!

Well done doc with a sassy narrator
reneeshobbies16 March 2023
This is one of the best True Crime documentaries that I've watched in a while. With just 1 season and 11 episodes, I only wish that Lifetime had decided to continue this series.

The dramatizations were well done. I really don't like when documentaries have over the top acting and Deadly Wives does a good job of getting the point across without overdramatizing. The one exception to this is in episode 8 (my favorite of the series) but the wife herself was overdramatic.

The witnesses that were interviewed by the show also did a good job and helped give the show a feeling of the audience getting the complete story.

The one issue I had is that there was one episode where I knew the case. In that particular episode, a large detail of the case wasn't mentioned and the witnesses on the show weren't that close to the case. I won't spoil here which that was or what happened, but that one episode is the reason I gave this 9 instead of 10 stars.

What really made this show a winner for me was the sassy comments from the narrator. There were a few times I laughed at what she said. Again, my favorite episode was #8 and there was a line from the narrator that had me laughing so hard I had to pause the show.
