Another strong episode from series 12.

A couple are all set to buy an exquisite beach, St. Agatha's Cove from a Land Agent, when they return to the boat, they find a dead body.

I have been so impressed by this series so far, and it's yet another very, very good episode, very consistent. What I've noticed so far, is they've toned the silliness right down, even Neville has calmed down somewhat.

Two very interesting elements here, the actual whodunnit, and the story in general, very strongly written and well plotted. The ending came as a surprise, once again it's feeling as though the writing is on the wall for Neville.

Marlon was absolutely fantastic here, he was amusing, but he's definitely hardened up somewhat, and showed us a tougher side, Darlene was great again, the two are making a fantastic duo.

One issue, the 20 yards contraband just, was it worth starting the engine up?

Very good cast here, great to see John Michie.

8/10.

Episode 12.3

Warning: Spoilers
Cheryl Horner is a real estate agent who has taken two clients out to see St Agatha's Cove. An exclusive beach that is up for sale.

The prospective buyers Peter Galbraith and Hannah Roberts look around the beach. Cheryl stays on the boat.

When they return along with Tyan Cook back to the boat. She is found dead.

DI Neville Parker finds out that Horner was an experienced con artist. The beach was not for sale.

There is also link to a contraband smuggling gang which Commissioner Selwyn Patterson wanted to stamp out.

If I was going to be critical. Maybe forensics would had told Parker of another person being on the boat much earlier.

I also think the audience at home was not privy to information which led to Parker figuring out the culprit.

A good episode!

Warning: Spoilers
The 12th season of "Death in Paradise" has been really solid so far. This episode is also a pretty good entry to the series, while not being great.

Let's start with the good.

. The production values of the episode are great as usual. The direction's decent, the music fits the scenery and the acting's very good. Tahj Miles is fantastic as Marlon, the character has always been fun. Really like the romance storyline with Neville as well.

. The murder mystery is solid with couple of twists and turns. The character-work is colorful.

But...

. Do agree that the solution is not of the better ones. It feels so simple that one begins to wonder, why someone didn't think about it sooner. The pacing isn't great either, parts of the mystery drag quite a bit.

Overall, a good episode.

7/10 HK.

The Spanish Prisoner

Warning: Spoilers
A very intriguing and foreboding episode of Death in Paradise, which involved a massive real estate scam that kind of in a way reminded me of David Mamet's movie The Spanish Prisoner. Anyway, everything is definitely not what it seams. In fact, this is one of the few episodes of Death in Paradise where the main plot and subplot intertwine to give a twist for sure.

Added to that you have Andy, a top bloke in the eyes of Neville, who secretly flies into Saint Marie. But why? The previous episode was also quite foreboding for sure, so I wonder is Neville in trouble and will he survive season 12 I guess.
