An interesting but padded out recollection of events?
RatedVforVinny20 April 2021
This is for sure a very interesting, documentary, styled reenactment. For any one who enjoyed the rather excellent 'Hunting Hitler' series TV series (me included) will obviously find this of great interest. I wonder though about a lot of the information they deem as fact and the dramatization is padded out, on what we are told as "factual testimony". We do know for sure that 30,000 high ranking Nazis escaped to South America and most lived out very peaceful lives, as well as the ones who ran very successful companies in a Post War Germany.

Rumours never die-Gripping
allanmichael309 January 2020
After DNA test of a skull in Russia proved to be that of a woman and not Hitler, I have had doubts that he died in Berlin. This could be fiction but quite a lot of high profile Nazi's escaped to south-america and a tunnel from Hitlers bunker was discovered that connected to railway so it was possible that he could get out. This movie continues with those rumors and is based on a book where its author tracked down real eye witnesses. These people if real and telling the truth have proven he did survive and claims C.I.A were also tracking him and maybe knew where he was.

A poorly made work of fiction
kontakt-6848120 July 2018
I hated this film. Why? Well, let's dive into it, shall we??

First, 95% of this film consists of reenactment by people who down't look like the real people at all. It all looks and feels like a bad C-grade movie with voice overs telling presumed testimonies or (even more vague) "stories" by people who are very sure they saw Hitler in Argentina after WWII.

So, Hitler is there and Eva Braun (sorry, Eva Hitler) is there too. While Hitler plans to build up a Fourth Reich, Eva records everything like she did on the Obersalzberg (remember those color images?).

The whole time I wonder: "Yeah, okay, but why should I believe all that? Where is the evidence? Where is a source, even a face of one of those witnesses?" And then, at one point, one of those witnesses, a maiden who says she served food to Hitler, tells us "Hitler ate sausage and ham like all the other people".

Really? He did? That's strange, isn't it. Because Hitler was a proclaimed VEGETARIAN. So, maybe they just got this wrong? Maybe she didn't remember correctly? (The filmmakers did neither, since they show us how Hitler eats a chicken or something.)

The further this "documentary" (if you want to call it that) goes, the more fictitious stories pile up. Nothing is backed up by some evidence, nothing feels any more real as the wet fever dream of some Neonazi who really does not want to believe, "the Führer" committed suicide.

Is it that what this film is all about? To cash in on the fascination on Adolf Hitler? give Hitler fans some hope, their idol might have survived? show some new images from a happy, yet determined Führer accompanied by Eva Braun (sorry, Eva Hitler), their dog and their daughter (because of course they have one)?

I can't tell you, only the filmmakers could.

All I can tell you is, I felt irritated, offended, disgusted - and probably most problematic of all - highly bored by this nonsense. Do not watch.

Woeful

Warning: Spoilers
A truly awful piece of work. The level of background research was established from the outset when we see a newly escaped Hitler enjoying his chicken lunch.. Clearly Argentina's meaty treats were too tempting for the previously vegetarian ex dictator. I could not put this down to sloppy prop work as a later witness re stated the fuhrer's love for a sausage. Though this film was not bogged down in detail, it does seem rather remiss of the Nazis to go to all that effort faking Hitlers death only to have him wandering about Argentina, proudly wearing his over sized swastika party badge, being recognised by all and sundry. Maybe just shaving off the old tash was not as totally fool proof as first hoped. The film detailed a steady stream of witnesses who had easily spotted the worlds most famous maniac. Though why they had not thought to mention it about 50 years ago seems puzzling. I look forward to reading the book when I'm next in need of a laugh.

Completely discredited

This film is a hoax. I quit watching halfway through and looked up the facts about the movie. It has links to Stormfront, an online white supremacist hate group. Read the Wikipedia article below for details:

Terrific film of an alternative to the Hitler Bunker death theory ...
lorenzoestevez16 February 2018
This is a Terrific film about Hitler escaping and moving to Argentina - South America ... well acted, great documentary drama - and the lack of evidence for Hitler's Death in Berlin is very strange - there is just as much evidence that Hitler escaped than he didn't ... i guess you believe who you want to - but Hunting Hitler is a great follow up to this film ...

Horribly put together
sbinarao15 October 2018
Horribly written, horribly acted. This had such potential. Im readung the book now and it was put together much better. This needed to be done more like a documentary and less like a bad movie of the week. I wanted facts, not drama.

Not Very Good
alanconnor13 March 2016
This is effectively a "daytime TV movie" based on pure speculation and not a shred of remotely convincing factual evidence, despite the blurb on the cover stating "based on interviews with eyewitness and years of dedicated research".

If the evidence for this scenario was so compelling, why didn't they make a documentary?

"Iron Sky" (Nazis on the moon)is only slightly less fanciful.

I'm disappointed Dan Snow has allowed his name to be printed on the front cover of this guff.

Avoid this at all costs.

Vile. Badly made. Not history.
Njs201610 January 2021
This is a vile little pseudo-documentary. The kind of movie that makes a mockery of 'serious history'. Anyone with a general understanding of the fall of the Third Reich would notice issues with this as soon as it begins. In terms of the voice overs and the acting, the 1.5m that the courts seem to have trouble clawing back for the defunct investment fund have been woefully spent. Don't waste your time. Watch DOWNFALL or read Hugh Trevor Roper on the subject.

Worth watching one for sure
vpashish6 December 2021
Beautiful movie worth your precious time for sure. Thought provoking movie, potraites nicely the other side of the coin. What could have been happened if he had really escaped, soul touching movie. The old age is hell on earth irrespective of your nationality and the power you possess. After reading several books and seeing multiple documentaries I personally think that he really escaped to Argentina. You need to understand one thing that if 1,2,3,4 or even 5 people are saying something it can be a lie. But if more than 5 people are saying the same thing so concretely and also the fact that this all people are of different age and gender and social groups. They are not connected in any possible manner with each other. It can be really true and the movie potraites the same elegantly. Even the furer could not avoid the old age horrors and betrayals.

All this will remain a true mystery forever.

Horrific
Hayden-8605529 April 2022
Terrible film that tries to deceive its audience of an absolute historical falsity. Almost attempts to humanise Hitler, one of the world monsters ever spewed out of the world, there's a scene about 2 minutes and 10 seconds long which is just of Hitler crying - why do we have this scene? What is it meant to show. Implied regret at his actions are also included in this hellfest.

The actual evidence is non existent and all ridiculous hearsay, in fact it sometimes works against this fringe theory such as it being stated that Hitler signed multiple books and everyone from the neighbourhood knew him, oh did they? Where are these books and where are these people? That's right, they don't exist or are vile liars doing it for attention to add insult to injury to the millions of people genocided.

1/10: Disgusting media.

Great Film for thos Interested in Nazi's, History, and What COULD Have Really Happened!
Dark_Lord_Mark23 May 2021
Well done documentary, or a alternate telling of history.

What we KNOW in real life is Hitler did NOT die, like the officials claimed.

The rest is up for debate and this movie, is it a documentary or a documentary drama.... I have no clue, but it was a good watch, well directed and edited.

Do not let people discourage you because their feelings are hurt or they dare not want people to think for themselves.

Excellent movie, a 10 out of 10 imo.

A 5 Alarm Dumster Fire
oneofmanyangels1 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is so bad, it should serve as a warning to other film makers on how NOT to do a movie. They could have at least had actors that looked somewhat like the historical figures, and it was very nice to see Hitler chowing down on chicken. They also mentioned sausages and other meat.

A truly bad movie.
