Meaning amongst images
niaathena18 March 2013
This film grasps universal meaning of the search of humanity as an entity thru a simple spoken story and powerful, very carefully picket images. Times loses its matter meaning and enters the login of endlessness of ones thoughts. the concept that inspired this film has a very deep spiritual message, and the direction is no less then complete. this film also proves the beauty of simplicity, and the power of the essential foundation upon a film is built on. No Hollywood production could ever compare itself to one mans vision and goal, that achieves expression actively and wildly in one film. all participant were fully aware of the directors direction and all were followed in perfect harmony.Very well Done.

A spiritual experience.

One of the most significant films you have ever experienced. If a film can be like meditation and can make you think on so many different levels "Unknown Land" achieves that with flying colors. You exit the theater with your soul expanded, your mind excited and a thirst to see life with more open eyes and heart than ever before! Director Manuel de Coco's vision is unparalleled to European standards, if not international ones. A film that lives with you weeks after you have left the cinema. This is truly cinema that changes the lives of the viewers for the better in a significant way. Not to miss - but be sure you are ready to change and grow!

A land to dream and find yourself
techflash6 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Watching the movie of Manuel de Coco we see that a simple idea and a non linear scenario can make wonders to the imagination and to the mystical feelings everybody have inside them. Its a trip to the most wonderful place in all of us. Our Mind. He connects religion, simple lives and the nemesis that the main character wants to find even if he doesn't really know what he is looking for. Some scenes can tire some people but its time lapse way of shooting them, compensates the viewer. Its a trip to lost lives and opportunities that faded away and a nemesis that never comes without tears and conclusion.

Manuel de Coco doesn't stop there. He made a movie that really makes you think not only stuff like religion and culture but also the great political changes that took place at that time. The turmoil in the lives of those who tried to start a revolution and better their days in this world.

Through the eyes and the thoughts of simple but religious people you cant stop and wonder about your views for so many political and not changes of that region of the world.

Its not an easy going movie. Its something that will leave you with feelings of joy, sadness and a smile in your face when you walk out of the theater.

Also, its a trip back to the mistakes of the main character and his last thoughts before he meet his maker. Like a cast away person who realized how much he let his life go to places that he really didn't need. Making himself think about his wrong choices he made and now he can only repent and hope for redemption.

Unknown Land is a movie that can stand right beside gargantuan productions of Hollywood and their big film studios.

Its an Idea well thought and well executed.

Mystic.....simple as power.... true as sun! ! ! Wonderful movie! Congrats Manuel de Coco! Human nature is to live collectively! Whoever and whatever wants to be alone ... will be vanish! This movie is a poem for our beautiful earth and a poem for the soul who wants liberation from everything which stands as an obstacle to be expanded as the universe!
