Heartwearming and real

One of the most heartwarming documentaries I've seen in years. Karen's journey from a Chicago prosecutor to a writer of telenovelas is filled with humor, self-analysis, and joy. After the death of her mother forces her to reconsider her career, life, and love of television, Karen learns Spanish from telenovelas, starts a blog about the shows and her life, and embarks on a journey of self-realization that literally brought tears to both my mother and girlfriend's eyes (not mine, though. I'm a man). All kidding aside, this film brings new meaning to the phrase "Que haces aqui?" (What are you doing here?)

Relatable, funny, and inspiring.

Have you ever wanted to do something different, exciting, and fun? Karen may not realize it but through her desire to learn Spanish she really inspires you to think outside the box on how to approach your own goals. There are many ways to accomplish things but her choice in Spanish lessons has to be one of the more creative approaches I've seen in a long time. This delightful documentary will have you laughing throughout, rethinking some life choices, and possibly even making plans on taking a chance on your dreams. I know now-a-days people say, 'Don't be a Karen' well this is a Karen that you want to be like!!

An Incredible Journey! You Can Create Your Dream!

This hilarious shirt is an incredible journey of a true story! Longtime Prosecutor Karen aka LaGringa Novelera as a seasoned state's attorney prosecuted gang crime cases at the notorious 26th & California courthouse for years. She literally was flipping through channels on a rare weekend off and was introduced to her future; telenovelas! One hitch...she couldn't understand the action necessarily so she became determined to learn Spanish while watching...and then took that dream to the next step-she wrote a telenovela after moving to Mexico City to immerse herself in the Mexican culture. She is now a well known writer with a hilarious blog featuring her witty & insightful commentary on the telenovela of the day. This is truly one of the most amazing and inspiring stories and a journey you can't miss.

Amazing story

Following La Gringa Novelera in her dream to change her life is something inspirator. She is an authentic woman who took an important decision because she loves too much the telenovelas. I have the fortune to meet her in person and I know she is a brave person. Move to live to México from Chicago is not an easy decision. When you are watching this documentary the time pass really fast, and you want to see more about her. I hope that Karen finally can sell her Telenovela to a one of the spanish channels. I would recommend this documentary to my friends, the point of view of La Gringa Novelera is great.

An unexpected approach to Spanish TV!

Karen's witty perspective on Latino telenovelas made me laugh fin the begging to the end. This is a roller coaster on the most successful Spanish TV shows. A quite original short movie.

Her unexpected finding of telenovelas in a Spanish-speaking TV channel triggers an unbelievable adventure, that changes her life for the better.

Karen shows us how to find fulfillment in our lives starting from the scratch if we are open to dive deep into whatever we find in our pathway. It's unbelievable how far she went after finding the Spanish American TV and getting engaged to it.

Karen is an invaluable resource for American audiences on how to make friendship with the universe of Spanish TV soap operas. Maybe many more people would be encouraged to follow her lead and learn another language while enjoying an astonishing TV show!!
