Goofs

The Fundamentals of Caring

Edit

Continuity

(at around 1h 7 mins) After exiting his father's office, Trevor isolates himself in the parking lot to cry. When Ben looks at him, the rear wheels of Trevor's wheelchair are turned sideways. On the next view, they're turned ahead.

Factual errors

When Ben, Trevor, and Dot are driving in the night, the warning light that shows up on the dashboard is actually the 'check tire pressure' light, not a faulty fuse as Ben later states.
Although the group was heading to SLC, Utah, the movie didn't feature any real Utah scenery. Also, at Trevor's father's car dealership, the phone number on an opposite building had the area code 470 (Georgia, where the movie was filmed), not a Utah 801 or 385 number.
A Seattle TV reporter holds a microphone with call letters that begin with W. Western state stations begin with K.
When Ben lifts Peaches' baby after the birth, the baby is quite bloody. In a normal natural birth, there is little to no blood on the baby.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

(at around 57 mins) Ben said he left the medicines with the CPAP. A minute later, he shows the medicines in a Ziploc bag, but not a CPAP. A CPAP is not a small machine that can be hidden. This should not be regarded as a GOOF, however, as Ben was tricking Trevor; the meds really were never with the CPAP.

Errors in geography

(at around 31 mins) The road trip has just begun, and they stop at a gas station where the young girl is smoking. She is standing by an ice machine and a sign that lists, "Hot Boiled p-nuts". Nowhere but in the South, specifically Georgia, can one get roadside boiled peanuts.
Some of the cut scenes that they say are in Utah are definitely not.

Character error

After Dot and her father talk at the Deepest Pit, Ben calls Dot's father "Cash", a name he shouldn't know because he hadn't asked Dot's father's his name and he couldn't have heard Dot and her father's conversation.
There is a spelling error at the World's Biggest Bovine Shop: souvenir items have "my bovine is bigger than your's", instead of "my bovine is bigger than yours".
Ben is shown repeatedly putting Trevor's morning pills in a shake, presumably because they will be easier to swallow. However, Trevor is always seen using a straw when drinking out of this glass,
