Clearly the worst of the series up to that point

"Bauxi", the name for old Matussek's dog who mysteriously makes a re- appearance in this episode after an absence of three years, is the weakest of all "Braunschlag" episodes up to that point, in my opinion. As the comedy was dwarfed by the feel-bad drama, writer-director David Schalko's talent wasn't that clearly visible anymore and reduced the entertainment factor for me.

The aftermath of last episode's robbery is as unspectacular as one could imagine, considering it occurred in a town of an estimated 500 souls. However, I still was hoping for more interesting scenes to follow up to it, but what I got instead was uninteresting and poorly written. Some moments did incite laughter with me, yet for the most part, "Bauxi" outperformed its preceding episodes in terms of unfunny ridiculousness and lots of unneeded moments. Even the once hilarious story lines of Banyardi, Babs, Katzlbrunner, and the Feist doctors lost all their fun as the sheer only purpose of this episode was to show how much the typical Austrian likes to drink. As this series is practically a portrayal of all sorts of typical Austrians, every character gets wasted in these 42 minutes and - even though I highly doubt that anyone would have expected that - it is just stupid to watch.

"Bauxi" was not a complete failure though because you'd have a hard time making an episode without any at least partly funny moment in it, if the premise is as good as it is with "Braunschlag". Still, the whole thing isn't counterbalanced with a couple of giggles and nicely shot moments, therefore I consider "Bauxi" to be the clearly worst episode of the series yet. Since I've already said that about the episode before, I sure do hope that I'll see betterment in the next episode.
