The theory behind co-ops, supporting local growers/producers, and community projects are all covered in this introductory primer to what a food co-op is, and how the East Lansing Food Cooperative is working toward providing the Greater Lansing Area with sustainable food alternatives.

ELFCO TV episode 2: In part 1, take a closer look at how local mobile food trucks are offering Lansing (MI) a delicious alternative to the fast food restaurants that dot the American landscape. El Oasis, Purple Carrot, and Trailer Park'd each share their philosophies on why it's important to work with local growers, and the state of the food industry today.
In part two, we wrap up the food truck interviews, and visit a couple of the local growers that help to supply them with fresh, in-season, locally grown food. ELFCO TV episode 3: In part one, visit the Allen Neighborhood Center in an effort to learn more about what goes into the creation and operation of a farmers market. Along the way we visit Urbandale, Lansing's first urban farm project. Later we talk with Steve Grose, owner of Green Eagle Farm about how he got started farming, and the value of farmers markets in the community.
