- Former TV teen star Lisa Whelchel reaches her breaking point early in the game, and as temperatures drop, two castaways make a risky choice to keep each other warm.
- Previously on 'Survivor': The new group landed in the Philippines and it included the familiar faces of Lisa Whelchel of "The Facts of Life" and former Major League Baseball player Jeff Kent In addition, past Survivors Jonathan Penner, Michael Skupin and Russell Swan, and the tribes were split in three. Jonathan went to Kalabaw, Skupin to Tandang and Russell to Matsing. Jeff hurt his knee, potentially seriously, right off the bat and is worried that his teammates will vote him out if they smell blood. Russell and Jonathan each found clues to the immunity idols, but Jonathan's tribe is already talking about voting him out first. At Tandang, RC, Abi-Maria and Pete aligned with Skupin, who recognizes Lisa and doesn't understand her strategy for not revealing who she is. At Matsing, Russell's bossiness annoyed everyone, but Zane took blame for the immunity challenge loss and he paid the price at Tribal Council.
Back at Matsing: Russell thanks his tribe mates for keeping him around and says he's never experienced that before. He tells us that he's going to step back and "rise and fall on decisions that they make."
That night, Angie is really cold and cuddles up with Malcolm. She insists "there's nothing going on." Malcolm tells us the next morning that he has to keep reminding himself, "Don't get 'booty-blinded," but admits Angie's a "good-looking girl." Roxy notices the cuddle and says it's "literally a booby trap," and Malcolm is falling for it. She says she isn't falling for it, and one of them has to go because they'd be dangerous as a pair.
Tandang: RC checks the rice for mold and finds the immunity idol clue when she reaches into the rice bag. Lisa is with her, so RC leaves it and pretends nothing happened. After Lisa leaves, RC pulls Abi-Maria aside and they run off and read the clue together. RC and Abi agree to stay tight. Abi tells us she thinks RC had no choice but to share it with her because she saw her find the clue.
Abi is suddenly paranoid about RC's conversations with Mike and confronts RC about it. RC is suddenly rethinking her alliance with Abi.
Kalabaw: The weather is getting to everyone, and they decide to draw a checkerboard in the sand and play to keep themselves busy. Jonathan just wants a chance to look for the idol, but everyone is cooped up at camp. When everyone else heads to a cave for cover, Jonathan stays behind and scrambles around camp looking for the idol, which we've seen is sitting right on top of the rice container and, at one point, he actually moves it out of the way during his search. Dawson comes back to the camp and finds Jonathan scouring the ground. He quickly makes up a story about having to look for his glasses because his contact lens had popped out. She seems to buy it.
Later, a light bulb goes off in Jonathan's head. He realizes the idol is sitting on top of the rice container and quickly goes back to pry it off and stick it in his bag. He vows not to make the mistake of being blindsided despite having the idol, as others have in the past.
Matsing: Roxy wakes up to find Angie and Malcolm cuddling again, and now she tries to get Russell on her side. Russell agrees with her. Roxy talks to Denise about it. Denise, the sex therapist who happens to be aligned with Malcolm, tells us she thinks "he's just a 24-year-old snuggling up against something that's nice to snuggle up to." But she realizes Malcolm and Angie now have targets on their backs. Malcolm tells us he feels a "strange vibe" around camp and he's nervous the rest of the tribe is noticing him and Angie possibly coupling up, and says, "If that's the case, we could potentially be in trouble."
Tandang: Everyone's sitting around making small talk, and Lisa tells us she's shy and introverted. She doesn't do well with small talk, so she slips off to be alone. Everyone else thinks she's off looking for the idol, or otherwise rejecting them. Abi tells us the alliance was made without Lisa because Lisa keeps pulling away.
Meanwhile, Lisa is sitting alone and tells us she's been on her own since she was 12 and moved to L.A. to be on the "Mickey Mouse Club," and while she's been trying to be more open with people, "this is not the place to experiment with that." While she's gone, the rest of her tribe mates jokes about her being off looking for the idol on her own, with Pete saying Lisa is like a dog that keeps sneaking out of the yard, "eventually you just gotta shoot it." Lisa tells us "it's hard being on the outside," and wonders if she's able to play the game.
Matsing: The constant rain and cold is starting to get to everyone, and Malcolm points out that Roxy is just not doing anything and he says people are starting to notice. Roxy does start to break down, with Russell trying to encourage her while everyone stands around. The sun finally comes through and Roxy thanks God literally. She sits on the shore and prays, then recites a chant of some sort. This throws Denise a bit, and Russell tells Denise he thought Roxy would have a little "more strength of character."
Denise says she's respectful of other people's faith, "but it's just not my gig." She says that if she gets to the end of the game, it'll be because of her own work. Heading to the immunity challenge, she says she won't be praying to God, She'll dig in and work hard.
Immunity challenge: Two members of each tribe will pull a sled out and retrieve bundles of puzzle pieces. They'll be followed by another pair. Once all the pieces have been collected, one person will serve as a caller and help two other players solve the giant puzzle.
They're also playing for reward: blankets, pillows and a tarp. The second tribe to finish wins a tarp. Tandang sits Abi, and Kalabaw sits Dawson.
Tandang strategizes fairly well, but Matsing struggles to decide on who will run twice to collect pieces.
Sure enough, Matsing falls way behind early when Angie tires out on the first leg of retrieving pieces. On the second leg, Malcolm pulls the sled on his own while Roxy barely hangs on.
Kalabaw is the first to get back with puzzle pieces, followed by Tandang. Matsing comes back last.
There are three big puzzles to complete. Tandang does well with Lisa as a caller. Matsing makes up some ground with Denise as the caller. Kalabaw's guys, Jonathan and Jeff aren't listening as well to Dana, their caller. Everyone is on the third puzzle at the same time, but Tandang finishes first. The group rejoices in their win, but Lisa, who was standing on the platform as the caller (a critical position that was vital to the win), raises her arms alone and gives a, "Woo!"
Kalabaw just beats Matsing for second place, handing Matsing its second-straight loss. Russell slams a puzzle down and Jeff asks him about his frustration. Russell says he's sick of his tribe mates not thinking they're unbeatable and not giving all their effort. Denise nods along.
Back at Matsing: Denise is frustrated and Angie offers a meek, "At least we were close." Russell is annoyed that "20-year-old Angie, beauty queen" complained about not being able to do the challenge, and Roxy avoided running by saying she hadn't had enough water to drink. Russell says Roxy has done everything to make herself a target, but he needs her around because he also has a target on his back.
Russell and Roxy go aside and talk about how useless Angie was in the challenge. She's annoyed, and says, "Angie needs to go not just because she's the weakest link, but her relationship with Malcolm is just not good."
Malcolm and Angie see Russell and Roxy talking, and Malcolm tells Angie that they're going to be called out because of the sleeping situation. Malcolm tells us he knows he shouldn't be sleeping so closely with Angie, and now he's nervous about it.
Russell and Denise go aside and talk about Angie. Denise tells us she's caught in the middle of these two apparently pairs.
Tribal Council: Russell tells Jeff he's frustrated because he doesn't come to dilly-dally and be cute. He's here to work. Denise agrees that "it sucks" to lose.
Jeff asks Roxy to finish this sentence, "If I could change one thing about this tribe, it would be" Roxy tells Jeff she thinks her tribe mates spend too much time working around camp. Denise disagrees and says they need to collect wood to have a fire so they can be strong for challenges. Malcolm says nothing, but seems to agree.
Jeff kicks the same question to Angie, whose response after a moment of hesitation is, "That we could have cookies." Everyone is stunned, and Roxy lets out an annoyed, "Wow." Jeff's jaw drops.
Jeff asks Malcolm about Angie's answer, and Malcolm says he can understand the response. Jeff cuts him off and asks, "Really?!"
Jeff turns to Russell and asks about the "cookies" response, and Russell says that Angie is "wonderful," but this is new to her and she has to leave everything out there on every challenge.
Asked about "friendships," Roxy calls out Angie and Malcolm for "something beyond that." Malcolm tells Jeff there's "mutual warmth" at night when he and Angie snuggle. Malcolm says it's innocent and Angie's like a little sister to him. Roxy says that's "creepy," and she and Angie go at it a bit.
Russell says a romantic connection is "the tightest alliance you can ever have in 'Survivor.'" Angie says she understands how significant this conversation is.
Jeff tells Angie to "wake up," clapping his hands loudly for emphasis, and tells her to realize the suspicion. He asks Malcolm about the suspicion, and Malcolm says he's tight with other people and "hopefully they'll take it for what it is, and not for what someone's trying to twist it to be."
Roxy speaks up unprompted and says, "A pair in this game is very dangerous, so if there's even a 60 percent chance that there's more there between Angie and Malcolm, then good luck to the rest of you if you choose her over me."
Roxy writes down Angie's name and says she has to "call a spade a spade." Angie writes down Roxy's name and says, "I can't stand you and I won't miss you."
The vote: Roxy, Angie, Roxy and the second person voted out is Roxy. She smiles, and Angie gives a smirk. Malcolm also gives a smug wave goodbye as Roxy leaves.
Roxy's last words: "It's been six long days. I think the relationship between Angie and Malcolm will impact the game of Denise and Russell. At this point, there's no place to hide and every single one of them better be superstar Olympians. I have some good ties to that group, but if they believe they've made the best decision, may God be with them."
