It Holds Your Interest....
papreppergal15 February 2020
"Spirit Stalkers" movie is a low budget movie with not very good acting but there is enough here to hold your interest to keep you from leaving. At times it's pretty slow but it does eventually pick up the pace some.

Now the plot.... it builds up throughout the movie but fails to bridge gaps from the main characters change of perspective, like how certain events suddenly go from petty ghostly tricks to possession killings. Or how Roland changes his mind about whether the house is haunted or not as quick as flipping a light switch.

That seems to be a common trait among these low budget films - like all the effort was put into the 1st half of the movie and the endings get overlooked and hurried through. Idk if it's a money constraint, a time deadline for production, or if everyone just gets tired of putting effort into the movie, but the endings are usually the worst part of what was a decent low budget film. It really degrades the rating the viewers give when this sort of thing happens.

This was an alright film for about the 1st half before it started falling apart. If you can't find anything else to watch and you really want to see a "paranormal" movie & have a bit of patience, give it a try, otherwise, keep moving along to find something else.

Surprising even with a home-made feel
Flooopdoodle22 August 2018
The acting feels amateurish, but this hooked me. There's a simplicity to it, especially the build up in the first third, and the acting started to feel like regular people going about their lives. It's not terrifying so much as interesting. Even the clunky editing and the shaky camera didn't bother me. The neighbors visiting seemed odd like an actual meeting of new neighbors you've not met.

Don't expect anything but goofyness, but if you like that its worth it. I gave it 6 stars, but mostly because whoever made this were clearly having a good time and it was contagious.

More of the same

Warning: Spoilers
This is a contribution to a very tired genre. The haunted house flick. A woman is experiencing paranormal phenomena;i.e. doors closing by themselves, strange noises, night terrors, ghostly voices. Because she was diagnosed with schizophrenia, and was on continued treatment for it, she shrugged it off. Until one too many things drove her over the edge. Believe it or not, it was finding her just folded laundry strewn about the room that did it. Her daughter contacts spirit stalkers, who come in to 'save the day'.

Unfortunately, she had contacted Miss Louise, a genuine psychic, who comes to her house and tells her that there is a deep evil there. She must take herself and her daughter away. She will 'cleanse' the house, for a fee ($5000). Ex hubby is peeved, and worried.

So the spirit stalkers come and catch 'real footage' of a 'ghost'. They also catch EVP evidence. After Reuben, the lead spirit stalker, tells Gloria, the woman, that the spirits won't hurt her, he offers to put her and her daughter Kelly up in a hotel for a couple of nights so that the show can do some follow up. Before mom leaves, she has to go back for the keys. Unfortunately, the spirits-the old man who had a stroke and killed his much younger wife, the murderous mom and her two butchered kids and the dead younger wife-infest her and she kills her daughter then herself.

Reuben discovers that his crew conspired with the psychic to 'plant' a ghost, which turns out to be the psychic's granddaughter. Reuben confronts his crew and lays it on the line; they had driven Gloria insane with their shenanigans, and are therefore responsible for the deaths of Gloria and Kelly.

Unfortunately, the ghosts, which turn out to be real, take advantage of the mental weaknesses of the crew and slaughter them all.

This was a frightfully dull movie. The actor playing Reuben was the only one who seemed to actually care about his performance. The rest of the cast was lackluster and bland. The 'father' came off as gay, if you can believe it. All in all a very disappointing view.

Haunted house movie that fails to be scary
Leofwine_draca12 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
SPIRIT STALKERS is yet another found footage-style horror movie about a paranormal TV crew investigating a haunted house. It's just a normal suburban home, too, not some creepy, genuinely atmospheric abandoned location. What follows is an exercise in boredom, I suppose stylistically similar to the likes of GHOSTWATCH but by far the inferior movie. The stilted performances are an embarrassment and there's only one decent scare in the whole thing, involving worms.

A Mix of 'Ghost Hunters and 'The Conjuring'!!!
Pumpkin_Man2 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I recently filmed a scene for Big Biting Pig Productions in their new film, It Lives in the Attic. Since then, I've been in the mood to watch some of their past movies. Spirit Stalkers was released four years ago, which was the last time I watched it. This movie is like a creepy old school 1960's haunted house ghost story. (In fact, I would recommend watching it in black and white) A woman named Gloria Talman begins seeing and hearing things around her house. Pretty soon, the Spirit Stalkers come to investigate. The 'Spirit Stalkers' show is close to being cancelled, so they need to find real supernatural activity if they wanna beef up the ratings. Is the house really haunted, or is Gloria just crazy? If you like ghost stories and independent horror movies, you might enjoy SPIRIT STALKERS!!!

Actually Not Bad
jmbwithcats31 May 2018
So I watched a paranormal investigator style horror movie today, who would have guessed that? The acting I won't say is bad, instead I'll say it's green... at first I thought it was going to be one of those low budget religious orientated horrors where they preach mental illness is actually paranormal, something along those lines, but it doesn't go that way, and ultimately it turned out to not be a bad story at all, and actually rather enjoyable once you make it past the cacophony of the amateur which many would find insurmountable... I say give this one a shot.

Movie: SPIRIT STALKERS Where: Amazon My Rating: 3/5 or 7/10

Wonderful Low Budget Treat
rdcromwell10 March 2019
I just watched this on Prime. I love ghost/possession stuff and was like, "eh. I will give it 5 minutes and see how I feel." TBH there's a lot of trash ghost stuff out there so I'm a bit jaded.

This movie is amazing. It is such a good story. Such good little twists and reveals. Way better than 75% that the genre produces. I would love to see a higher budget version someday.

I have already posted on my Facebook about it and plan to share it in some groups. Great job to everyone involved.

Thanks.

Well made reality genre horror
sooperdw4 April 2014
This provided an almost voyeuristic experience in horror as it seemed so realistic. The blend of a scientific examination of phenomenon with the horror of the unexplainable was a potent mix. This was the key in character building a compelling storyline that delivered in explosive style. If you like watching the reality TV stuff where ghost hunting goes on this will seem like a natural thing to watch and gets your guard down as it starts to lead into a territory that if far from familiar in such programmes. This was really a very good production and if it had not been it would have easily resulted in the screen horror being discounted as something one can distance from as light entertainment. This was instead a dose of heavy entertainment. I would recommend it, but suggest that you do not watch it alone.

There has to be a perfectly logical explanation...
masodo31 August 2013
Spirit Stalkers is an intelligent group of investigators who work together to explain away claims of the paranormal. As Rueben (the leader of this group) explains, "You don't prove the existence of a ghost by actually going out and finding one... you prove the existence by ruling out every other logical explanation there is..." The problem is that these folks are so good at their jobs that never once have they ever encountered anything that can be classified as a spirit from "the other side." This would not be such an issue if it wasn't for the fact that they perform their duties in front of the camera, for the entertainment of the viewers that tune-in to their reality television show "Spirit Stalkers." Their ratings are on the line week after week.

Gloria Talman has recently become the owner of a large, older home and has a dream of perhaps turning it into a bed and breakfast. Maybe she should have checked with the spirits haunting the estate before signing on the dotted line. Maybe it is just the house settling. Perhaps there is just a draft. Whatever is going on, it's enough to drive anyone to the brink of calling in "The Ghost Busters." Of course Ghost Busters is just a movie but Spirit Stalkers are real, plus they have a proved track record.

Gloria's home may be just what this team has been hoping for. The disturbances in this house may defy any logical explanation. If so, then what we are left with is a Spirit Stalkers dream come true. Some dreams are better left to the sleeping.

Spirit Stalkers is a Big Biting Pig Productions masterpiece. Technically superior to any BBP Production that has come before. Which is saying something, since all of their films are setting the standard for the independent horror/thriller genre. Once again they raise the bar and put you on the edge of your seat. So if that is where you like to be I say go ahead and take a seat in front of Spirit Stalkers as they try to explain this one away.
