Warning: Spoilers
America's policy in central America is very aggressive. They want to dominate that area for military and strategic purposes. For this they employ a variety of measures from open relief measures, aid and rescue operations, trade relations to covert measures such as CIA involvement, assassinations. Nicaragua's US funded dictatorship is one such instance. It was overthrown in the 1970s after a heavy revolution. They incurred a huge debt and very little revenue with no foreign aid and heavy trade embargoes. With extreme pressure from the united states, they are facing a tough time. Even now after independence they constantly face attacks on all sides, heavily discouraging people to actively participate in border security, infrastructure development, healthcare facilities and much more. America would do anything to ensure its security in this area from funding mass genocide to taking away a nation's right to survive. The people there are poor, with little education, have limited expectations and yet are facing a tough time for no reason other than being surrounded by a big bully
