G.I. Joe: Initiate Rocks!!
jasony715200210 October 2012
This first installment of the fan-made series wastes no time jumping into the action, covering a lot of story in a short amount of time. This series is by far one of the most realistic, authentic fan made films I've seen on the web. Using real veterans and real military equipment and tactical know how, adds to the authenticity, and the use of some of the more obscure Joes does a lot to add to the ever expanding Mythos of G.I. Joe:) I am particularly excited to see more in the near future, I am in favor of the independent take of this saga, and more attention being paid to characters, dialog, and story twists rather than hokey youtube vids I've seen who try to have CGI and similar SFX. This series is a great way to get your Joe fix in anticipation for the long delayed G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Warning: Spoilers
This is "G.I. Joe: Initiate", a fan film from 2012, so not that new anymore and the writer and director here is Frederic Doss. His main profession is acting though, so you will see him perform in front of the camera too. By the way, this is still his only effort as a filmmaker himself while he has acted in over 30 films. And he isn't bad I would say, gives one of the better performances of the film palying a character taken hostage. Apart from that, it is pretty bland and forgettable. We see said character being humiliated by his captors while a special force is on their way trying to free the hostage. Pretty generic as a whole and nothing memorable here, neither in terms of cast, not camera work, nor effects. So overall, I think it is fine to skip this one. By the way it says 12 minutes here on imdb, but 10 is more accurate as this one actually consists of 2 episodes and each includes over a minute of credits. So I am glad it was this short, also that I did not have to hear the rather loud and annoying song playing during these credits. All in all, it is not a failure, but I am sure it would not be known one bit if it wasn't for the G.I. Joe character in the title. In my opinion, you should skip the watch here. Not recommended.
