Another left-leaning, pro England documentary that is worth a watch
JurijFedorov2 August 2015
In the first episode the narrator tells us how great and famous Keynes was and how important he is. These British documentaries are often very proud of British history so it's nothing that really ruins the episode or irritates me. She does repeat the same few points again and again and it gets boring and seems like bad writing. But still an informative watch for the layman. Economics it is not - this is the story of 3 men and 3 philosophies. The Keynes episode is just presenting a hero image of a British man - like the movie Gandhi does or how Mother Theresa or Tibet is remembered - as something that is not quite true to reality. But the Hayek episode is negative, and never really tries to imagine how his ideas would work. They compare his ideas to conservative politics which is wrong and misleading. Marx is not really an economist. He is a political philosopher like Plato and other philosophers. That episode just makes the whole series seem weird. Why not present the greatest economist of all time who was British himself, Adam Smith? I am not left or right learning, I just want a good an equal presentation of both sides and the ideas presented fully - this is too biased and simplified for my taste. I don't support one or the other, but I don't like getting manipulated either, and I don't like documentaries that are written by fans and not the best scientists of the day. This is great for young adults and laymen. For people who want to learn the true economics and ideas this does not hit home run. Still an informative watch, and not a waste of your time. It's a bit like a more factual, boring and repetitive Michael Moore documentary about 3 dead men.
