"She became an aspirational role model for a certain kind of no-holds-barred Asian American womanhood."
At just 52 minutes this 30 for 30 installment flies through the life of Jeanette Lee far too quickly, and it doesn't go into enough depth in her personal or professional life to be completely satisfying. However, just to see this fierce, defiant legend covered in the series was a treat, and understanding a little more about the obstacles she overcame was inspiring. In her prime in the 1990's the 'Black Widow' was the face of women's pool, combining as she did talent, an intense desire to win (that gaze before taking a shot!), and her striking appearance, which she was never afraid of exploiting for sponsorships. It's a shame this wasn't twice as long.
