More sad than scary

Warning: Spoilers
This was definitely my favorite episode of The Haunting Hour (followed by Scarecrow and Intruders). It's probably one of the saddest ones I've ever seen, and is very deep for a children's show, not to mention good acting, creepy scenery and eerie soundtrack.

Shawn is a kind of nerdy boy who recently moved into the neighborhood with his father and older brother, David. Shawn is having a hard time, he has no friends - well, actually he does - he has Travis. What's not to love about Travis? Travis is cool, reckless, thrilling, imaginary...

Yup, Travis is Shawn's imaginary friend, a sentient creation built entirely in his mind.

Now, that on it's own is perfectly fine, hell, I know adults who have imaginary friends and are leading normal lives. But in this case, Shawn's imaginary friend is convincing him to do bad, dangerous stuff for fun, becoming less of a friend and more of a monster. n the end though, Travis heads for David - and David might be Shawn's brother for a specific reason.

This episode was incredibly depressing, Shawn cries as his most loyal imaginary friend, David, dies in front of him. I wasn't expecting that to happen on a kid's show, and it was filmed really well and both actors did an excellent job. But the episode has a few plot holes. How come David calls out casually to Shawn's dad if the dad can't even see him, and why does David the imaginary brother have his own bedroom? How old is Shawn? He has a crush on a high school girl but he looks to be maybe in grade six.

They took that story from "Twilight Zone"

The story and the twist at the end, was all done in "Twilight Zone" (season 1 episode 36). They did it on their show back in 1959(!). In Hollywood they always repeat same twist and stories over and over again.
