Kaito and Hiromi talk over Masaru's suggestion that they leave in search of their own 'ocean.' Kaito says he wasn't shocked, and felt that leaving was inevitable. Hiromi says that there is the first place he ever wanted to stay in, and so is disappointed to be told to leave. Masaru tries to surf, but wipes out, so he embarks on a training program with support from everyone. Eventually, he reaches a point where he can indeed surf again. Makoto warns him not to go surfing when the waves are too high, and he reluctantly agrees. Hiromi admits that summer is finally over, and both he and Kaito strengthen their resolve to leave. The weather forecasts big waves, so early the next morning, Masaru goes surfing by himself. When they all awake, they find him and his surf board gone. They call the police and ambulance, and go out searching for him, but at first all they find is his surfboard washed up on the shore.
