- It is composed of two buildings: the 10-storey Wilshire Wing overlooking the fashionable corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive, and the 14-storey Beverly Wing overlooking the lush residential area of Beverly Hills.
- It was opened in 1927 and originally called Beverly-Wilshire Apartment-Hotel.
- It was built on the former Beverly Hills Speedway site, an American board track from 1919 which was, at the time, ranked second in the country after the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
- The new Beverly Wing (Annex) opened in 1971 on the site of the old pool and tennis courts. The renovation included a new Mediterranean-style pool modeled after the one found at actress Sophia Loren's Italian villa.
- The Beverly Wing is connected to the original Wilshire Wing via a cobblestoned entryway that's lined with gaslight lanterns-all imported from Edinburgh.
- The original building withstood major earthquakes and even doubled as an air raid shelter during World War II.
- The ownership of the hotel changed hands many times over the year till 1992, the Toronto-based Four Seasons Hotels, Limited, took over management of the hotel, and has remained involved on the management level since that time.
- It hosts the Wolfgang Puck Michelin-starred steakhouse CUT
- During awards season - which includes the Oscars - the Beverly Wilshire is home away from home for the international A-list - musicians and actors - but is also the preferred address for royalty, politicians - and indeed luxury travel aficionados.
- The hotel came into wider popular prominence with television and film productions such as Pretty Woman (1990) and Entourage (2004)
