- The awesome intergalactic storehouse of knowledge visits the Galaxy - and the Defenders must keep Ming from stealing its deadly weapon!
- Once every 2000 years, a vast storehouse of knowledge called the Hall of Wisdom visits Earth's solar system. The Hall houses a powerful device called the Quasar Weapon and Ming is determined to get his hands on this device and use it to conquer Earth. The Defenders are equally determined to stop him and, using pilotless puppet ships operated from the Space Station, fight off an attack by Ming's forces. But all the puppet ships are destroyed in the battle, meaning the Defenders will be putting their lives on the line when Ming launches his next attack. Indeed, Ming already has a fleet of robo-ships on standby.
Riding space-scooters, Flash, the Phantom, Rick, LJ and Jedda (along with Kisa) make their way over to the Hall, but find they are unable to open the doors. Flash contacts Lothar (who stayed on the Space Station with Mandrake, Kshin and Zuffy) to ask him if Dynak has cracked the Hall's entry code, but Lothar replies that she is still trying. Kshin then asks why some asteroids which he and Zuffy have been tracking for the last hour are not moving in the same direction as everything else. Lothar replies that it's one of Ming's traps. Realising the presence of his troops has been detected, Ming gives orders for the second attack to be launched and his robo-ships begin peppering the entrance to the Hall with laser blasts.
When the jets on Jedda's space-scooter fail, Rick rushes to protect her and is hit by laser fire, knocking him unconscious. As Jedda kneels beside Rick, Flash, the Phantom and LJ try to fight off the attacking robo-ships using hand lasers, but these prove ineffective and LJ says it will take a miracle to get them out of this. Seconds later, a bubble suddenly surrounds Flash and the others, who are transported into the Hall. Seeing that the Hall has opened for the Defenders, Ming decides he will enter the Hall personally and orders Octon to prepare his Flagship.
Meanwhile, Mandrake, Lothar, Kshin and Zuffy are heading for the Hall when the fuel cell on their spacecraft is hit by laser fire, causing them to start losing power. Luckily, Mandrake is able to use his powers to repair the damage and, moments later, Lothar takes out four robo-ships at once. Inside the Hall, Flash and the others meet the Hall's caretaker, Jarbon, and Jedda asks him if he can help Rick. Jarbon replies that he may be able to do so, but they need to hurry. Rick is placed in a device called the Life-extender which quickly restores him to full health and Flash asks Jarbon how he can repay him for saving Rick's life. Jarbon replies that he is not the one that has to be repaid, but the Hall will keep Rick and Jedda as a living exhibit of Earth creatures.
Arriving outside the Hall, the remaining Defenders attempt to blast the doors open. Mandrake extends their ship's laser booster and Lothar redirects all the ship's power to the laser, but even this is not enough to get past the Hall's defences and the ship is left hanging in space with no power, just as Ming's forces appear on the scene. When Flash and the others make it clear that they are not prepared to leave Rick and Jedda behind, Jarbon (who had hoped they would be more co-operative) attempts to imprison them, but they escape. A wall opens to reveal the Hall's keepers, two hulking bipedal creatures which Jarbon says are unstoppable. However, Jedda is able to use her powers to get them to retreat.
Flash asks that Rick and Jedda be released, but Jarbon says he doesn't have the authority to do so. When the Phantom asks who does have that authority, Jarbon replies that the Hall makes its own decisions and may release Rick and Jedda if Flash and the others can convince it that they are on the side of justice. Flash and the Phantom try to use their lasers to melt the bars on the cage trapping Rick and Jedda, but only succeed in exhausting the lasers' power supply. Jarbon then says the Hall has the specimens it came to Earth's solar system for, and Flash, the Phantom, LJ and Kisa are once again encased in the bubble as the Hall prepares to transport them out. Flash and the Phantom try to warn Jarbon about Ming's plan to steal the Quasar Weapon, but Jarbon refuses to listen. Jedda then insists that it's true and that Ming is probably right outside the Hall.
Indeed, Ming's Flagship is now within range of the Hall. Ming has Garax use the newly perfected Molecular-disruptor Beam (a very powerful laser) to blow up the stricken Defender ship and, believing Mandrake, Lothar, Kshin and Zuffy have been killed in the explosion, prepares to use the same weapon on the doors to the Hall. However, Mandrake and the others managed to get out of the ship before it was destroyed and watch from a nearby asteroid as the Molecular-disruptor Beam destroys the Hall's doors. As Ming's forces storm the Hall, Flash, the Phantom, LJ and Kisa are freed from the bubble and the Hall supplies them with weapons. During the ensuing battle, Mandrake, Lothar, Kshin and Zuffy enter the Hall, but Ming uses his mechanical seekers to pin them down. It looks as though Ming has the upper hand this time and it isn't long before Garax finds the Quasar Weapon and presents it to Ming.
The Phantom snatches the Quasar Weapon and, as an Ice Robot restrains him, throws it to Rick, who briefly becomes intoxicated by the power it offers him. Ming tries to goad Rick into embracing this power, but Jedda tells Rick he mustn't become like Ming. Rick then casts the Quasar Weapon aside, which convinces the Hall to release him and Jedda. The Hall then transports everyone home. Back at Monitor, Rick expresses regret that the Defenders were unable to learn anything from the Hall, but Flash says humanity will only be ready to share the Hall's wisdom once evil forces like Ming have been defeated.
