Uncle Ted At His Best
Ted Nugent: Sweden Rocks (2008)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
Stormtroopin, Wango Tango, Snakeskin Cowboys / Free-for-All / Wang Dang Sweet Poontang / Kistrphoky / Rawdogs & Warhogs / Soul Man / Hey Baby / Dog Eat Dog / Still Rising Hell / Motor City Madman / Cat Scratch Fever / Stranglehold / Great White Buffalo
This concert from the Motor City Madman was recorded at the Sweden Rock Festival on June 10, 2006 and features Nugent crashing through a 90-minute set. I actually watched this concert just a couple days after seeing Nugent live and in person for the first time. What really amazed this first time viewer was how fast, rocking and just downright out of control the performances are. That's certainly not an insult because Nugent just comes out on stage and starts rocking and there's not a weak moment or even a slow one. So many rocks stars went on to do love ballads but not uncle Ted. The showing goes at an extremely fast pace as there's really no slow time in between the songs as they go right from one into the next and it really keeps you rocking throughout. The entire show is one major highlight but the real stand outs include Cat Scratch Fever (of course), Stranglehold, Wango Tango, Rawdogs & Warhogs, Soul Man and the opening track. The two band members are in great form and so is Ted as his voice is very strong and the guitar work from him is still so underrated. Fans of Nugent should really enjoy this show but if you haven't seen him live it's even better.
