A Very Entertaining Film
lukerobson20 May 2015
Apart from what has already been said about the wonderful acting, touching music and great story that kept you engaged from start to finish, this film excelled in many other areas. This film had to rely on the artistic touch, the trust and belief with each other and the commitment by cast and crew to bring a special film to life. Not many people in the world of Independent film making can take such a limited budget and turn out a film that has a million dollar production value, and that is what this film 'Lost Angels' has been able to do. Writer & Director Stan Harrington has come into a new hight with his Independent film making with this interesting and honest look into the underbelly of LA and the entertainment industry. Its honesty and high production value keeps you glued to the screen from the first frame to the last. I can't wait to see more of Stan as people start to invest more money into his films. He is a Writer, Director to keep an eye out for. A great talent, and an Aussie!

That soundtrack!!
jonahcabrella1 November 2020
I watched it on prime and felt the Joshua character was under developed. Female lead seemed to have gotten more attention as far as details and character development, kinda felt the movie was about her. Her perfornance was outstanding. However, as far as the soundtrack, it goes without saying that Oliver Piggott is a genius lyricist. I rewinded a few times just to watch him play. His music moves you, and his passion for his music oozes. It would be amazing if a movie was made about the life of Oliver Piggott, now THAT would be a story like no other, crazy unexpected twist and turns and far from the usual painfull climb to stardom. A story not only worth telling, but should be told. Here's to hoping.

What is the price of success?
charlesspencerclark1 July 2015
A beautiful revealing into the dark depths too many people feel are necessary for "breaking Hollywood". Writer and director, Stan Harrington has clearly composed a movie based on what he's witnessed first hand in show business. And without giving away any spoilers, the ending will no-doubt shock you! But all that said and done, there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments from memorable cameo appearances that helps keep you fully gripped throughout this wild roller-coaster. The soundtrack also needs a shout-out; A variety of catchy, lively and melancholic songs from Oliver Piggot perfectly adds to the overall feel of this story.

The realities of making it in Hollywood
glennwolv1 May 2015
I went to see Lost Angels at the Northern Virginia Film Festival(NOVA)in Arlington, Virginia. This is a very powerful story of love and life while trying to wrestle with what you will and will not give up to make your dreams in Hollywood. Oliver Pigott in the lead role(Joshua) makes an outstanding and emotional performance in his movie debut. Stan Harrington (writer/director) made the brilliant decision to bring Oliver on board because his music is what makes this film work. Knowing that Oliver was in his first role, Mr. Harrington surrounded him with a brilliant and experienced cast. Amanda Dreschler (Charlie) and Robert Praglo (Richard) round out the love triangle that creates the basis of the film and the insight of life in Hollywood. Douglas Bennett (Chick) plays a wonderful role to give the film some comic relief to ease the tension. The rest of the cast give amazing performances that really let you get to know all the characters and feel the emotional roller coaster as it happens. It is all wonderfully put together to give the viewer a little laugh, a little cry, some beautiful music and yet leave you to wonder about the wonder that is Hollywood.

Angels are front and center in Stan Harrington's Lost Angels
delweston1 August 2015
If you are just going by the music, this film is a ten. If you just go by the cinematography, this film is a ten. If you just go by the story, this film is a ten. Oliver Piggot comes to Los Angeles with nothing but a guitar and his beautiful and haunting voice. Guess what, it's enough. Harrington continues his indie assault on the Hollywood machine by making films that matter and in this case, it's a film about the trappings of fame, fortune, sex, music and of course love that is doomed. The film plays well as a cautionary tale and that's too bad because with brilliant performances from a seasoned cast and director, you'd hope for the Disney, fairy tale ending. Let's see if we get it. No spoilers here. Great piece of filmmaking.

Not quite understanding the love for this film
unclepete3 November 2018
This isn't a bad film, and at the risk of damning with faint praise, most aspects are consistently adequate. At times it feels like a narrative loosely wound around a music video, with a lead actor with very limited acting skills but not a bad voice.

The themes tread well worn paths, and unless you're a real fan of the soundtrack it really doesn't have much to offer.

Viewers would do well to consider 'All About Eve' for a study on the price of fame, or John Carney's 'Begin Again' for a film with similar themes but much stronger talent. The former is a 9/10 out of 10 film, the latter a strong 7/8. This is a 5.

So Honest
jiggleebits18 April 2019
This film was so honest and exposed the sacrifices and choices you needed to make it in Hollywood. Was so surprised how good Oliver Pigott was in his first acting job and to also be the main character too wow Great soundtrack and this movie was shot tight but just close enough to capture such emotions which helped the movie to flow so effortlessly. Well done

A theme that everyone can relate to
MeganCaulfield4 May 2015
Lost Angels is about a theme that all of us experience at some point in our lives. In fact this theme is so prevalent that we have a common phrase to express it - "selling your soul to the devil". In Lost Angels the story follows a young couple in love, and the choices they make to reach their goals. The question becomes, were the choices made worth the sacrifices that must be endured? The cast was superb, and Oliver was phenomenal especially considering it was his first transition from musical artist to actor. He gets the chance to showcase his musical talent with a fantastic score. The film is fun to watch, although very moving at times and may leave you quite emotional by the end. Overall an excellent film about a very deep and thought provoking theme.

Excellent movie that shines a light....
BryanWriggle14 May 2015
On the part of the industry that, in many people's minds, is in the dark. I went to watch this film with my brothers and some friends and we were all very surprised at how great this movie is. You can see the struggle the two young artists are going through with their relationship to one another and with their passions. One gives up everything to get as far as they can while the other does their best to stay the person they are. It's a movie not only about struggle but also about love and how much something or someone could mean to the other person. I really enjoyed Doug Bennett's character 'Chick' who really brought in some well timed comic relief. I really enjoyed how passionate he was with helping out Oliver Piggott's character with his music. One of the highlights in the film was Stan Harrington and Amanda Dresler's scene at the top of the stairs where a lays down the "truth" about Hollywood.

A beautiful work of art and very important message
loveandlavorofilms4 May 2015
This movie is truly beautiful. It made me cry, laugh and really reflect on the state of the world. The writing is only matched by the AMAZING soundtrack! From moment one, the music has you hooked, and the film unfolds in such a poignant and truthful way that there isn't a dull moment. The subject matter is SO important for everyone to be exposed to. The directing is masterful and really reflects an expert in not just with the camera, but with the actors too. The performances are really solid, heartfelt and you can tell that everyone gave their heart and soul to this project. I hope to see more films like this on the big screen!

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed watching this film. The story was great, the characters were great, and the music was really awesome. I really admire the story the actors were achieving, it was a look into the business that we all look to, and very interesting to see the struggle in their human relationships and fame. Congratulations to the cast, director, and the people who produced this film. It was nice to see the different relationships portrayed in the film, and to watch the story unfold till the end. I feel the story was written very nicely and portrays a experience a lot of people could possibly go thru while achieving their dreams in "the Industry."

Beautiful movie
oksana-maria-l2 May 2015
Lost Angels is a beautiful movie. I love it. After I saw it I couldn't get it out of my head for at least a couple of days. It really spoke to me and I could definitely relate with the struggles you are going trough as a freelance artist. I think that anybody that is an artist that are trying to "make it" will relate to this movie. Well done, great acting and a beautiful message for all the artists that are trying to make it this though industry in Los Angeles. Makes you stop and think about what you are actually doing and what really is important in your life. The hard choices of life mixed with humor, love, compassion, pain and beauty. Very touching.

Good Quality Work, truly art.
mbenzaia7 May 2015
I recently had the privilege to see Stan Harrington's "Lost Angeles" while in Los Angeles. The film served as great entertainment through it's extremely talented cast but also shed light onto several important ideas. It gave the audience an insight into some of the dark aspects of such a world as portrayed in this film. It also allowed the viewer to see the inter workings of a good-hearted character and how they could be persuaded to act otherwise. In a way we can all relate to this confusion, and undying yearning for something we have worked so hard to achieve. Harrington's directing style and overall tone of the film keeps the viewer wanting more. I cannot wait to see what's next from Stan and the producers tied to this work of art. Overall I would highly recommend this film to anyone who loves good quality work.

Great look inside LA!
annalotr13 May 2015
This is a fascinating film that gives us a look into the different types of people working (or hoping to work) in Hollywood, and the sacrifices people are willing to make to 'get ahead.' This is a brilliantly acted film and the added bonus is that it has a fantastic soundtrack! This is a movie that anyone hoping to get into the entertainment industry can relate to, often asking ourselves 'what would I do to succeed?', 'is love as important as success?' Stan Harrington made a master film, with important and relevant issues to everyone- not just performers. I can't wait to see what Stan and his team make next. He's definitely found a life long fan in me!!

Incredibly honest film
ellamaycannon30 April 2015
A beautiful look inside what is often the reality of 'Hollywood' and the sacrifices required by those who wish to be a part of it. Throughout the film we see the world through the eyes of every artist, from the next up and coming who dances with self- sabotage, to the has been who's trying to find himself again, all the way to the filthy rich agent. If you ever wanted to understand Los Angeles and the fight it takes to follow your dreams in a town that is constantly throwing punches, this is the film to watch.

Lost Angels is also a beautiful look inside the human condition. Throughout the film we see not only the power of love, but also its cost. It effortlessly portrays the complicated nature of human attachment and the reality of solitude. It also demonstrates the price we are so willing to place on a human soul, and the choices we are left with when we have been taken for all we have.

Stan Harrington and his cast have done an absolutely stellar job, with honest performances and bittersweet undertones - it is a film worth of acclaim. I could not have enjoyed it more.
