Academia is a b****, bro

Warning: Spoilers
This was a pretty decent episode of Bones. The case this week was interesting because the body was blue, which was a mystery that kept Hodgins busy throughout most of the episode. Our intern this week was Arastoo. I think Arastoo is a good intern, but I'm not really sure how I felt about how intense he was about publishing. Obviously, I think it is appropriate for him to be super excited about getting published, I know I would be too. But, his comment to Hodgins - "Academia is a b****, bro" - while funny, seemed just a bit extreme.

The B plot this week was all about how Bones isn't feeling 100% herself after having Christine because a lot of her clothes don't fit. Booth and Sweets take it upon themselves to help Bones by going to a lingerie store. It was funny seeing these two in this situation, especially because we know from watching this series that talking about sex can make Booth a bit uncomfortable. However, the whole apples, melons, mangos conversation just felt weird.

In the end, we find out that the killer was the victim's shampoo boy. This wasn't too surprising as it is a common trope in tv shows. The assistant kills their boss in order to take their position. The most surprising part was when the shampoo boy, Theo, STILL HAD THE VICTIM'S SCALP ON THE SHELF IN THE SALON. I literally gasped when I saw that. It just leads to so many questions: How did no one notice this? Why did he keep it at the salon? Why did he think this was a good idea?

Overall, I thought this was a pretty good episode but definitely nothing special.

Best part: Bones and Angela practicing some self care (finally, after seven seasons we get to see Bones relax a bit!)

Worst part: Sweets making the comment that "Daisy is adventurous," I just really don't need to know about their love life in that way.

Really dumb stinger

Warning: Spoilers
Such a stupid reveal at the end. How did no one, not a single person, see or smell the scalped head of hair on the wig mount at all. Bones has some good writing at times, but just as often it's got some truly stupid scenes.

Hairless in DC
Hitchcoc17 February 2023
The episode revolves around an extremely handsome hairdresser whose body is discovered in a landfill. The reason he is found is the appearance of dead seagulls and other critters who are covered in a blue liquid. Much of the effort is trying to figure out what that substance (although it seems it shouldn't have been that hard). Eventually the answer to most questions comes from the hair, much of it used for extensions at a salon. The way the hair was removed from the victim is pretty gross. In the secondary plot, we have Brennan really on edge from her post pregnancy. Booth can't seem to do anything right, so he and Sweets try to figure something out. We also have the non-publishing of a paper that leads to some sadness.
