- On the day of the funeral of a beloved Wisteria Lane resident, each of the ladies thinks back on how this person had affected their lives; Bree is called in for questioning about Alejandro's murder.
- "Desperate Housewives" - "Women and Death" - March 18, 2012
Bree, Gaby, and Lynette run to Susan's aid when they hear the gunshot but it is too late. Susan is holding Mike's dead body after he was shot and killed by Donny, the loan shark, in a drive-by shooting.
Three days later. Susan prepares for the funeral as does all of the other housewives.
Meanwhile, the police dig up Ben's construction site and discover Alejandro's body following the annymous tip by Orson.
Gaby and Carlos prepare for the funeral and Carlos reiterates his desire to be a therapist.
Julie helps a devastated Susan prepare for the funeral. The preacher arrives and talks with Susan about the service but she's just not prepared to face it. She worries about how to tell people well enough how amazing Mike was. The preacher tells her it's going to be okay. She disagrees.
Lynette prepares to go to the funeral and Tom and Jane arrive. Tom says he's still in shock. They reminisce about Mike. She cries and Tom comforts her as Jane looks on uncomfortably and then expresses her condolences.
Renee comes to tell Bree she's not going to the funeral because people will think it's her fault since Mike intervented with the loan shark harassing her. Bree tries to convince her to come saying it's a day about honoring Mike, not about her own guilt. As Bree is about to leave, a police detective wants her to come down and answer some questions about Alejandro.
Gaby reflects on Mike's life and on hers with Carlos and we see flashbacks on their time together including time with his imperious mother who believed Gaby was a golddigger; a look back on him working hard to support her as she took care of the kids; her visiting him in rehab when Mike was also visiting who also did a stint in rehab and Mike talking to her about Carlos worrying she might leave him if he can't provide. At the funeral she takes Carlos hand and tells him he should quit his job and become a counselour.
Then it's Lynette's turn to look back on her marriage and her interactions with Mike. (They have awesomely bad wigs in the flashback.) We see their first date, him presenting their house, and Mike helping Tom move out. Mike asked Lynette why she wasn't fighting harder for her marriage. He told her time apart wouldn't help and somebody has to make the first move. She says she can't because she's too angry. He says he hopes one day it won't be too late. Back at the funeral Karen tells Lynette to not let it bother her that Tom brought Jane. Lynette tells her that she doesn't think it's going to last much longer and she's going to put Mike's words of actions into action.
At the police station while she waits to be interrogated she flashes back on her life. She goes all the way to her childhood and her mother teaching her lessons about how to be a woman... and cooking. Her mother taught her about "the mask" -- because all well-brought up women conceal their emotions to retain their power over men. Her mother had boundary issues and telling her far too much about her father's indiscretions. We then see her and Rex during a fight in their marriage where he confronted her about the mask and her mother is proved right.
Back in the present the cop comes in and starts his interrogation. Bree claims she knows nothing about it. The cop explains about the tipster who says Bree killed him and tipped him off to where the body is. Bree says she didn't do it. She then rushes off to Mike's funeral. The cop is impressed by her composure. She makes the mistake of drinking from a coffee cup though and now they have her fingerprints.
Finally it is Susan's turn to reflect on her life with Mike as she sits at the funeral. She remembers a little kids' poem he recited to her on their wedding night. She recalls writing their wills and thinking they were jinxing themselves. She recalls a diner meal with Mike and MJ and MJ asking about death. Back in the present she gets up to say something at the funeral. She envisions him in a better place doing all of his favorite things.
Renee sings "Amazing Grace" as Bob, Tom, Chuck, Carlos and others take Mike's casket away.
They all attend the graveside service.
Back at Bree's the girls have burgers and try and get Susan to eat. She starts to panic about all the things she needs to do that Mike did. The girls pitch in to help.
Back at the police department they match Bree's fingerprints to something related to Alejandro.
