- Patrick is a strange and lonely resident of a mobile home at the back of an isolated caravan park. After a violent thunderstorm erupts, a mysterious young woman appears at his door, seeking shelter from the weather. The longer the night wears on and the more the young woman discovers about Patrick, the more difficult she finds it to leave. Soon she begins to question Patrick's intentions, while Patrick begins to question his own grip on reality.—Indianna Bell
- Patrick, an elderly man, spends the late hours of the night by himself in his trailer listening to the radio. On a rainy day, a flashback depicts a woman outside his car while the same song, "Sleepwalk," plays on the radio. He puts away a vial of clear solution that he has been staring at.
A storm is coming. Shortly after, he receives a knock on his door, which he reluctantly opens to reveal a young woman, drenched from the rain, looking for a ride into town. He offers her tea and a towel when he invites her inside, but she quickly declines after he informs her that his car is broken. He provides her with dry clothes instead of answering her request for a phone call. Given their distance from one another, he finds it dubious that she claims to have come from the beach. He gives her money for a pay phone, saying he does not have a cell phone, and gives her directions, but warns her that she will not be able to get there by herself because it is outside a gate that is locked at this hour. She grudgingly consents to stay while her clothes dry.
The woman discovers a collection of women's belongings, including a locket containing hair, while the two are speaking. Patrick becomes suspicious after the woman gives him contradictory answers when he asks where she is staying. When he offers to warm her up with a shower, the woman observes blood and grime running down the drain.
When the woman asks if Patrick was married, he offers her a jumper that he says was from his previous girlfriend and heats up a can of soup. He tells her how "his thoughts are leaking into his life" and how, as he ages, he does not sleep anymore. He cleans the pan he used to heat the soup, which starts to look like blood, as he says this.
When the woman asks how she got in if the gates were locked, Patrick is also interested. When the door is suddenly knocked on, Patrick discovers that nobody is home. "The kids in the trailer park like to knock on the door and then run away to taunt me," he explains. When there is a power outage, they both go to check the fuse box. The woman briefly notices blood on a hammer after lighting the path with a torch. She finds her earring in a pillbox with many others after noticing what looks to be bleeding scratch marks on his back and offering to get him something from the medicine cabinet to treat them.
The woman becomes extremely suspicious and insists on leaving right away. With composure, Patrick informs her that the door is unlocked. Since the storm is still going strong, she chooses to remain inside the house and they play a game of Bullshit. In keeping with the card game's theme, Patrick confesses to lying to her. He tells her that he was married and that he met his wife at a gas station when she asked him to buy her a pack of chips. He also claims that his wife died from an overdose. The woman's suspicions are heightened when she discovers lipstick on her glass while drinking. A storm breaks out, and Patrick goes outside. The woman discovers a vibrating phone-belonging to a deceased woman-under a sheet on the bed in the back room, which she had not yet investigated.
As she attempts to flee through the roof, she strikes a skylight with the same hammer that was previously seen, which is then unexpectedly covered in blood once more. Patrick captures her, ties her up, and gives her the vial of GHB solution so she can not fight him off without passing out. Patrick tells her about the first girl he killed, how she had a memorable tattoo on her ribs and how she approached him for a ride at the beach during a storm. He discovers that the woman has that same tattoo and has been the same person all along after she faints. He is terrified and enters a nightmare where he is confronted by every woman he has ever killed and where he can hear the police constantly rapping on his door. He is abruptly dragged into the dark, where he hears his father using a ventilator, alluding to a story he had previously told the woman about his early years. As the other murdered girls encourage him, the woman makes him empty the vial of GHB into the whiskey bottle and drink it, causing him to overdose. He emerges from the darkness covered in blood and in distress.
When Patrick opens his eyes, he reveals that everything, including the woman, is a hallucination and that there is no storm. He hears a knock on the door and opens it to discover kids running away after pulling a practical joke. The empty GHB vial is then visible when he reaches into his pocket. He returns inside after laughing incredulously when he realizes that he drank the solution while in his delirium. We hear him pass away as we cut to the outside of the trailer.
