The representatives of the Sekai Taikai state that they have brought in a local referee in the name of impartiality. That makes no sense, as a local referee would be far more likely to have preestablished relationships with members of the local martial arts community (as ends up being the case when Terry Silver is revealed to have paid the referee off). It would make far more sense for an outside referee, or even one of the Sekai Taikai representatives, to judge the matches, as they have no relationship with either dojo.
One of the representatives of the Sekai Taikai agrees to evaluated the combined Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang dojo because, "combining styles is unorthodox." In martial arts, combining styles is very common.
