- Carmen dreams of a life with Johnny. She imagines her , Miguel, and Johnny (as Maverick from Top Gun), living a happy life with their new baby. As she wakes up, Johnny has her tell him all about it.
At the LaRusso home, Daniel is on edge anticipating Terry's retaliation following Mike Barnes' store being burned down. Mike has left town during the investigation, though Daniel is sure it will be deemed accidental. He and and Amanda leave for a charity auction to support disenfranchised teenagers, an important event for Amanda, who is hoping to be accepted onto the board. Chozen appoints himself guardian of the house, and monitors the security cameras at LaRusso Auto to ensure Silver does not attempt anything. Johnny has been job hunting to make sure he can support Carmen and their baby, plus Miguel and Robby, though he is struggling to find a means of making money that isn't trying to scam him, and no other job wants to take him. His ex, Robby's mom Shannon, comes to pick up Robby's stuff for the summer. She notes his remarkably clean and redecorated apartment, and with that and his new demeanor puts together that he and Carmen are expecting. She asks him if he is ready for the financial responsibility, and offers to help him get setup with a new phone so he can take gig jobs such as rideshare and food delivery. Later, a "nerd" from Techtown comes to his door, Demitri, who picked up a summer job. Demitri sets him up with a cheap but functional smartphone.
At the Splasharama water park, most of the teenagers in the Valley are enjoying a day of fun, including the various karate students. Sam, Moon, and Yasmin are met by Eli and Miguel. The awkwardness between Miguel and Samantha, who are trying to maintain a platonic friendship, is palpable. Robby reunites with Tory, and asks her if she would be willing to quit Cobra Kai. She refuses, but is happy he and his dad have worked out their issues. Across the park, Kenny, along with Kyler and several other Cobras, spies Anthony, and decides to give him trouble.
Amanda and Daniel arrive at the auction, being held at a huge house, courtesy of one of the donors: Terry Silver. Amanda speaks with the founder and chairman of the charity, Ava, and Daniel quietly threatens Silver not to ruin Amanda's day. Silver promises he won't, though implies anything might. At the water park, Kenny and the Cobra Kais bully Anthony. Anthony tries again to make peace with Kenny, who refuses to accept and kicks him into the pool stuck in an inner tube. Eli witnesses this, and warns them to back off. Kenny provokes Eli and almost starts a fight, but Tory steps in and orders the Cobras to stand down. Determined to set a good example as an All-Valley champ, Eli agrees to keep their respective teammates on their own sides of the park.
At the auction, Daniel is convinced the whole thing is a setup by Silver to cover up some scheme. Amanda calms him down, as he promised to keep the karate drama out of their personal lives, and he leaves to get drinks and speak to the board chairman, determined to do whatever he can to help her. Terry approaches her with an expensive vintage, and tells her that whatever Daniel might think, he is not his enemy. He admits that while his past behavior toward her husband was wrong, he insist that he has changed, and took over Cobra Kai to save the students from Kreese's methods, saying that Vietnam addled his mind. As Terry's words begin to sway her, he claims that Daniel sent Chozen to rough up his new senseis, something Amanda didn't know about.
Johnny tries to make the gig job work, though his reckless driving and late food delivery gain him nothing but one star ratings from his customers. Meanwhile at the water park, Devon, Burt, and Mitch from Eagle Fang decide not to let Cobra Kai keep them off of the water rides on their side of the park. Their attempt almost breaks out into another fight, and Robby and Tory struggle to keep the peace. The lifeguard warns them that any physical conflict will get them all kicked out. To settle the dispute, they decide their respective champions will have a slide race to determine who gets to stay.
At Silver's house, Amanda asks Daniel why he sent Chozen to assault Silver's new hires, but Daniel promises there was more to the situation. The auctioneer gets to the LaRusso contribution; rare, fully cultivated bonsai trees. The bidding goes well, but Silver bids a huge amount of money and wins the trees, much to Daniel's dismay. After the auction, Daniel sees Silver talking to the chairman of the board about Amanda, and demands to know what he said. Silver tells Daniel he told malicious lies about his wife, and Daniel shoves his hand away. Silver makes a big show of it, knocking over the bonsai trees, and the chairman reveals that Silver actually gave Amanda a glowing recommendation. Daniel looks like a lunatic in front of the other guests, and a furious Amanda leaves.
Johnny is disheartened at all the poor reviews and complaints from his jobs. The pawn shop owner, a man Johnny has never gotten along with, tells him that most people don't enjoy their jobs, but advises him that it gets easier when he thinks about who he is trying to support. Later, Johnny calls Shannon and asks her to let Robby stay with him for the summer. He apologizes for letting her and Robby down in the past, and promises to do whatever it takes to make it work. Shannon forgives him, and agrees.
At the waterslide, Kenny hands Eli and Tory their tubes for the race. Robby tries to get Kenny to leave Cobra Kai, saying he regrets hurting him at the tournament. Kenny however, feels Robby injuring him was a valuable lesson, and tells Robby he will never quit. The race commences, and Tory wins, but Eli's tube deflates. The sabotage is obvious, and Eli confronts Kenny. Kenny feels provoked, and tries to hit him. Eli easily dodges before Kenny lands a strike. Still feeling protective of his former protege, Robby shoves Eli into the pool, and Miguel gets involved. Before more fighting breaks out, the lifeguard kicks everyone from both dojos out. Seeing this, Samantha collects her brother and leaves first. In the parking lot, Robby tells Tory that Cobra Kai always makes things worse. He tells her they cannot stay together if she keeps fighting for them. Tory sadly tells him that she won't leave, ending their relationship. Miguel confronts Robby for seemingly taking Cobra Kai's side even though he supposedly left them. They get into a shouting match over their continued rivalry, and Johnny arrives to break it up. Both boys refuse to ever make amends.
Amanda and Daniel get home arguing. Daniel insists that Silver was toying with them the entire time, but Amanda thinks Daniel is refusing to let go of the past, and now she has lost her chance to join the charity. Daniel tries to explain just how dangerous and manipulative Silver really is, but Amanda doesn't believe him, especially when Chozen accidentally reveals they got into a second fight at the furniture store. Daniel tells her to let him and Chozen handle the situation, but Amanda, angry and fed up, decides to go somewhere far away for some space, and takes the kids away with her.
