It’s another night of drama and reality TV. However, not all networks have new episodes of favorite shows on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
We know that networks need to take breaks in the schedule. There are nine months to fill with content, but not enough new episodes to give us one new episode a week. Well, it’s time for one network to take a break for scheduling needs. Let’s get into it.
Survivor, the World Series continues, and more
We start off with CBS’s night of reality. Survivor kicks off the night with another 90-minute episode. This episode sees two castaways forced to mend fences due to tribal council. One group of castaways is given a safety net they need with the Immunity Challenge. It’s sure to be another night of reality drama.

Cue the laughter — or, at least, the laugh tracks! The U.S. broadcast networks are hoping to bring the levity with this fall’s slate of new TV comedies. Only five are debuting before the end of the year — with Variety reporting that the networks are introducing a record-low number of scripted shows this fall — but the newcomers should tickle a wide variety of funny bones. After getting to know these freshman series, here’s what we’d recommend for whom. If you wish there could be a hospital-set Abbott Elementary, check out St. Denis Medical. NBC calls St. Denis Medical “a mockumentary about an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital,” much like how ABC’s Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary about an underfunded, understaffed Philadelphia school. Wendi McClendon-Covey, David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Mekki Leeper, Kahyun Kim, and Kaliko Kauahi star in this series “where the dedicated doctors and...

The 10 Best Celebrity Cameos from Abbott Elementary - Main Image
Abbott Elementary has a pretty strong central cast, but the show has managed to wow audiences with some very classic celebrity cameos. While some may only appear for a short scene, there are also others that manage to hang around the school for an entire episode.
In this list, we take a look at some of the best guest appearances that Abbott has ever had and wonder if the show will manage to top itself in future episodes of the currently ongoing fourth season.
Ayo Edebiri as Ayesha Teages
(S02E14 Valentine’s Day, S02E18 Teacher’s Appreciation)
Ayo Edebiri may be best known for getting screamed at by Jeremy Allen White in The Bear, but before that show took off, Edebiri had a small, but significant role in Abbott Elementary as Janine’s sister Ayesha.

Things are certainly heating up on Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 2. This series is known for being extra, and it did not disappoint with another installment of this sensational show.
This episode, while drawing on multiple themes, secretly weaved a well-rounded episodic case. I’m not sure why the episode was titled “The Wrong Stuff,” though.
For an Elsbeth episode, the title is rather vague. Considering the twists and turns, I would’ve titled this episode something like “Going Up In Flames” or “Out Of The Fire Into Space.”
(Michael Parmelee/CBS)
However, what this episode lacked in creative titling, it more than made up for in an incredibly entertaining episode. Elsbeth continues to deliver more than audiences hope for and exceeds expectations.

When It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia arrived on the Abbott Elementary set, did the family-friendly ABC sitcom have a production assistant specifically assigned to clean up Danny DeVito’s beer volcano?
Earlier this month, Rob McElhenney and Quinta Brunson officially announced the upcoming crossover between It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Abbott Elementary that they’ve been planning ever since the viral and horrific Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience first inspired the two to team up back in January. However, the two defining sitcoms from the City of Brotherly Love are polar opposites in terms of their tone and their moral compasses, a point that fans brought up as soon as the first on-set photos emerged showing the Paddy’s Pub gang standing next to the teachers and staff of Willard R. Abbott Elementary School with nary a katana or a revolver in sight.

The hunt for a successor to Disney CEO Bob Iger is heating up after the entertainment giant appointed former Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman as chairman of the Disney board this week, confirming that a new CEO would be appointed in “early 2026.”
The race as it currently stands seems to be narrowing on an executive from Disney’s creative ranks, which means the co-chairs of Disney Entertainment — Dana Walden and Alan Bergman — have the early lead. Walden, who clearly has the leading position, would be Disney’s first female CEO in its 101-year history.
An individual with knowledge of Iger’s thinking told TheWrap earlier this month that former executives Tom Staggs and Kevin Mayer are not seen as succession candidates for the top job, even after the duo returned to Disney last year as consultants with their private equity firm Candle Media. Morris Chestnut’s new CBS Studios’ series, Watson, a fast-paced medical drama inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s much-adapted stories of detective Sherlock Holmes, premiered on Sunday at the Marché International des Programmes de Communication (MIPCOM) in Cannes, France.
“One of the things that excited me most about the show is that it’s a fresh take on the mythology,” Chestnut said of his new series.
The new drama kicked off the international television market MIPCOM with a world premiere of the story told from Dr. John Watson’s perspective and “through a medical rather than a criminal lense,” noted Chestnut. “But it still pays great respects to the Sherlock Holmes stories.”
Chestnut plays Watson, Holmes’ iconic sidekick, who, in the new show’s telling, resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic treating rare disorders after the death of his friend and partner. But he soon...

The world premiere of Paramount Global’s “Watson” raised the curtain on this year’s Mipcom in Cannes. The series, set to premiere on Jan 26 on the CBS Television Network, sees “Reasonable Doubt” star Morris Chestnut as the iconic Dr. John Watson in a Sherlock Holmes spin focusing on Watson’s medical career.
“Watson” follows the titular character after the death of Holmes as he resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic specialized in rare disorders. The series is described as “a medical show with a strong investigative spine, featuring a modern version of one of history’s greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.”

Lisa Ann Walter, or teacher Melissa Schemmenti to Abbott Elementary fans, had one request for the ABC mockumentary’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode. The 61-year-old wanted scenes with a certain actor from the comedy series. But it wasn’t Charlie Day, Danny DeVito, or Rob McElhenney.
Walter asked for scenes with Kaitlin Olson in the ‘Abbott Elementary’ and ‘It’s Always Sunny’ crossover
At Warner Bros. Television Group’s Fall TV Season Celebration, Walter shared not only that she and the Abbott Elementary cast had already begun filming with everyone from It’s Always Sunny, but that she’d also asked Quinta Brunson, the show’s creator, star, and writer, if she could get screen time with a particular actor.
“I really was excited about acting with Dee, with Kaitlin Olson,” Walter said (via Variety). “I met her at some of the events that we have to go do.

I was just skimming the latest Wednesday ratings, and… yikes. ABC’s Abbott Elementary is not doing well, incongruously leading out of The Golden Bachelorette this fall.
The Golden Bachelorette is averaging 2.7 million total viewers and a 0.3 demo rating through its first five episodes. That’s a far cry from the 4.7 mil/0.6 that The Golden Bachelor averaged a year ago, though 1) Bachelor aired on a different night (Thursdays) and 2) only against other reality-tv fare on CBS and Fox, due to the Hollywood strikes delaying scripted shows.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Abbott Elementary Season 4, Episode 2, “Ringworm.”] Abbott Elementary faced an unexpected outbreak in Season 4’s latest installment, revealingly titled, “Ringworm,” as the fungus passed from student to student, eventually making its way to the staff. No character was more panicked by the possibility of catching it than Gregory (Tyler James Williams), who suffers from an extreme aversion to germs and illness, so much so he was willing to forgo a movie night date with his girlfriend and colleague Janine (Quinta Brunson) to avoid catching ringworm. Donning a long-sleeve turtleneck, overalls, gloves, and wielding a spray bottle of sanitizer, Gregory wasn’t taking any chances of getting sick. Showcasing that side of Gregory in such an extreme light was also a way for the show to explore some of the behaviors people have experienced since Covid initially broke out. “It was not only fun, it was kind of cathartic,” Williams tells TV Insider.

When Rob McElhenney showed up to shoot his scenes for the upcoming It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover on Abbott Elementary, he apparently delivered the most hilarious performance that ABC would never condone in their most profitable public school. We know that “Abbott Elementary” is officially doing a crossover with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” this season, but could there also be a “Masked Singer” overlap? Ken Jeong thinks so this week.
It’s “Soundtrack of My Life Night” on the Fox competition Wednesday night, and two performers are set to be unmasked from Group A. Who will they be? For now, that’s anyone’s guess.
But in TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek at the episode, panelists Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong have their latest guesses for Woodpecker’s identity. You can watch that below.
“If I follow the clues, the burger, this actress is in ‘Good Burger 2,'” Thicke puzzles out. “And you know what? She famously wears glasses in a lot of her YouTube videos. And I think that this could be Liza Koshy.”
“Because I’ve been thinking this was probably a voice that I haven’t heard before,...

Hit US sitcoms It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Abbot Elementary have announced a crossover episode
An It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Abbot Elementary crossover? It appears to be happening, with word of the two hit sitcoms joining forces emerging in recent days.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a crossover episode between the two shows has been filmed, with writer and star Rob McElhenney confirming the news via a photo of the casts together on Twitter/X with the caption “Oh. Hello”.
Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson previously teased the crossover at Comic Con in July, saying, “We will be doing an interesting crossover this season … but I’m not going to tell you with who or with what or where or when or how. But it’s really exciting, and I think it’ll change television as we know it.”

"It's Always Sunny in Abbott Elementary!" It just sounds right, doesn't it? After months of speculation, we finally have confirmation which show Abbott Elementary is doing a crossover with. Earlier this summer at San Diego Comic-Con, Abbott creator and lead actress Quinta Brunson revealed there's a special crossover happening between the ABC comedy and another series, but she didn't share details. Of course, she had to be a tease! Well, now we know which other comedy is involved. And it's FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia!
Guys, I called this on our sister site Hidden Remote. I can't believe I was right! I feel so validated right now. I had a feeling that perhaps the theory was too out there. But I did have hope the Abbott Elementary/It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode was going to happen. Because it just makes so much sense! Even though we don't know plot details yet,...

The highly anticipated Season 4 premiere of “Abbott Elementary” titled “Back to School” is set to air on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 9:30 Pm on ABC. This episode kicks off the new school year with a twist as the neighboring construction site for a new golf course brings unexpected challenges to the dedicated teachers of Abbott Elementary. The construction chaos forces the staff to think outside the box, leading to creative and often humorous solutions to keep their students engaged despite the distractions.
Amid the hustle and bustle of the construction, the arrival of an Hr representative adds another layer of complexity to the teachers’ already hectic day. The dynamic at Abbott is further complicated by the evolving relationship between Janine and Gregory. After their recent kiss, fans are eager to find out where they stand, adding an element of romance to the comedic mix.

Fall is officially here, and October marks the beginning of spooky season, with several shows arriving in late September as well as this month that will support the chill in the air and autumnal atmosphere through Halloween.
Shows that premiered in September like Agatha All Along, The Penguin and Grotesquerie will release new episodes every week up until or even through Halloween. Only Murders in the Building Season 4 premiered in August, but it will also unfold right up until the end of the month with the tenth episode arriving on Hulu on Oct. 29.
Not to worry, though, for those in the mood for cozy stories versus creepy ones this month. Season 3 of Netflix’s Heartstopper returns Oct. 3, and though the third installment of the series based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novels addresses more serious topics, it remains joyful and comforting. Shrinking Season 2 also returns this month on Apple TV...

British actor Jamie Thomas King is adapting James Titcombe’s memoir Joshua’s Story: Uncovering the Morecambe Bay Maternity Scandal for the big screen.
King, best known for star turns in Mad Men and The Tudors, is penning a screenplay for Trust, a movie to be produced along with wife and Canadian actress Tamara Podemski as part of their newly-launched Blackbird Productions banner.
“Right now, I do not have intention to act in or direct the project. But yes, I became interested in the subject following Benjamin’s death and subsequent lawsuit,” King told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.
In 2016, the preventable death of their second son, Benjamin, due to medical negligence occurred five days after Podemski gave birth after a delayed caesarean section. The first episode of Abbott Elementary season 4 is titled "Back to School," and the staff are definitely going to have their hands full based on the trailer! As always, the school is very underfunded, and the hilarious trailer starts with Melissa and Barbara asking Principal Ava for books and paper towels for their classrooms. You know, basic necessities. But we know these poor guys have to work with what they've got. And of course Ava has a sarcastic response in return.
Jacob seems to have another mystery enemy other than Mr. Morton, the class pets may not be as great as they sound (the teachers asked for money for after school programs and got this instead), there's a visit from Hr, and ringworm is going around. A lockdown might be in store based on the video with Ava all suited up.

Irony, thy name is Amazon. Long before Iron Man ever arrived on the scene in his fancy metal suit and arsenal of deadly weapons, director Paul Verhoeven had already perfected the art of lampooning America's obsession with hyper-militarized heroes acting as agents of the state with "RoboCop." Action fans ought to be well familiar with how the 1987 classic had one of the first (and arguably final) words on the rise of the police state in modern society in modern genre fiction, telling the story of a sinister mega-conglomerate named (what else?) Omni Consumer Products violently spearheading the newest technological horror: taking a dead cop killed in the line of duty, resurrecting him in the disturbing "body" of a metallic droid, arming it to the teeth, and setting it loose upon the streets of a futuristic Detroit. What could possibly go wrong!

The stalwart Abbott Elementary staff has so much to contend with in the Season 4 trailer above, who wouldn’t begrudge them a raise — or at least a restocking of paper towels.

Ava Coleman is so much more than just the Abbott Elementary principal. She has said some of the show’s most iconic one-liners and has captivated fans’ hearts with her humor, capriciousness, and self-confidence, which does tend to become self-absorption.
Although her self-interest has led to some questionable decisions as an elementary school principal, we still love her. Why? because she is much more than her comedy and ego, as her unparalleled character development since the pilot episode has shown.
From her hostile first moments to her unforgettable quotes to the character she is now and everything in between, this is why we love Ava Coleman.

Undoubtedly, the Abbott Elementary principal is one of, if not the funniest character on the hit mockumentary. From her notable one-liners to her physical comedy, Ava always brings the laughs.

After a busy August with the Season 2 premiere of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” which continues throughout September with new episodes through Oct. 3, “Batman: Caped Crusader,” and more, Amazon streaming services Prime Video and Freevee will have a comparably quiet September.
Most of the action for the month will come from Prime Video’s sports options. After the Sept. 5 Kickoff Game at Arrowhead Stadium with the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs going up against the Baltimore Ravens, Prime Video’s third season of Thursday Night Football begins with AFC East champs Buffalo Bills taking on the Miami Dolphins in Miami. The WNBA and Nwsl also continue their seasons on Prime Video, with matches all month long from New York Liberty, Phoenix Mercury, Angel City Fc, and more top teams.

When we think of notorious pirates of history, Jean Lafitte, Capt. Morgan, and Blackbeard leap to mind – impressively chevelured and bewhiskered British or Frenchmen who swash-buckled through the Atlantic, Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico. But in terms of larceny upon the high seas, they may have been eclipsed not by a man or a European, but by a Chinese woman: Cheng Shih.
Actress Lucy Liu brings the charismatic corsair back to life in The Pirate Queen, a VR experience from Meta and Singer Studios that immerses users in a 19th century world of intrigue and adventure. The narrative directed and produced by Eloise Singer and produced by Liu and Siobhan McDonnell is nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Emerging Media Program.
Liu and Singer first learned of Cheng Shi somewhat randomly.

A mix of seasoned veterans and fresh-faced newcomers are vying to win the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Comedy this year; it’s almost a shame only one of them can win.
This year’s six nominees include the last two winners: Jean Smart, who has won twice before for her work as stand-up comic Deborah Vance on Max’s Hacks; and reigning champ Quinta Brunson, earning her third nod as levelheaded teacher Janine Teagues on ABC’s Abbott Elementary. They’ll face a strong challenge, though, from The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri, who won in the supporting category...

Tyler James Williams has just revealed what pop star he'd love to see guest star on Abbott Elementary and it would be a great fit!
Since premiering on ABC in 2021, Abbott Elementary has become one of the biggest hit comedies on TV. The mockumentary about a Philadelphia school focuses on the teachers handling things, from a principal with zero clue how to run the place to various antics.
The series has been a huge success, earning scores of Emmy nominations and a few wins for stars Quinta Brunson and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Among the fun cast members is Tyler James Williams, who's earned three Emmy nominations as Gregory Eddie. Originally a substitute teacher, he became a regular member of the faculty, a man who truly means well to help students while dealing with his overbearing father (Orlando Jones).
A running theme of the series has been Gregory's obvious crush on...

The creative minds behind some of this year’s Emmy-nominated comedy series give insight into the process and share secrets behind their highly lauded seasons.
Abbott Elementary
In Abbott Elementary’s third season, series creator Quinta Brunson and her writers room were handed a challenge: Tell a thorough, engrossing story in eight fewer episodes than usual. The ABC comedy, which typically runs 22 half-hour blocks, was truncated as a result of the writers and actors strikes (the February premiere timing also conflicted with the series’ history of following the school year in real time). “I knew right away I didn’t want to hold anything for season four, and that I wanted to protect the finale ending we had planned,” says Brunson. She used the opportunity to try out a time jump for the first time — among other creative pivots — and the result garnered Abbott nine Emmy nominations, including outstanding comedy series.
