Perfect Doordarshan serial of the late 80s
bharathmatluru1 December 2023
The concept is good but the taking was at its worst. The performance of the actors was purely intended for the early Doordarshan serials.

It was a slow drag serial with disgusting makeup.

We have come a long way. From free Doordarshan serials of the 80s to the 50Rs Dish serials of the 90s, from the 125 Rupees DTH for all Television sets in the same household to the 400Rupees per Tv DTH.

From the 100rupees per ott to the present 700 per OTT subscriptions.

All this development for what, to watch the same old drag serials at 100 times the price.

Got irritated with the last couple of episodes.

Poor Script
magesh903124 November 2023
It's nothing but the poor version of The Hills have eyes & Wrong Turn combined. Poor Script, Poor casting, Poor CGI, Poor Dialogues Felt like a horror comedy show no intense scenes. It's really pity that nowadays directors can't come with good script, still copying story & scenes from other movies. The only thing I've found positive was Naren acting at some scenes & one disgusting twist. Arya really need to work his acting skills & dialogue delivery. I believe the production budget was less since the CGI quality is low. Started with a bang & ended miserably.

Waste of time, Watch at your own risk !!!

Worst Series in Prime Ever!!
subhashaddagiri24 November 2023
Pretty disgusting, illogical & often irritating series.

In short - A "Wrong turn" wannabe that was poorly written & directed.

While watching you'll realize that the thrill factor slowly goes below the bar & as we watch further it gets more & more disgusting and annoying, and forces us to stop watching at some point.

The dialogues, the screenplay, the narratives & the intrigue factor, nothing fascinates us in any manner.

The story feels like it was written by a 5 year old. The visuals which are expected to give us thrills turned out to be extremely awful.

We're in 2023, but unfortunately the director seems to be stuck in 1970s.

A perfect Indian apocalypse
yashwanthb-581534 February 2024
I liked this series. Not a lot but this is enough to give a kick start to the genre in Indian cinema. For those who are thinking whether to watch this after reading all the negative comments, my answer would be to go for it. The starting was really good and the story got boring after the 4th episode. The elements like creating a mutant army and a super mutant was really good but relying only upon it wasn't that good. The team should have worked more on the details and the technical side. As a very big fan of the apocalypse genre, having watched almost every single zombie film out there, I didn't get the feel of a mercenary when I saw that team. The lead character was a doctor in the series but there wasn't any scenes in the apocalypse where his skills were put to use except for the sedation part. The story revolved a lot around the Lead character. Some more details and twists with the expedition team would have made it a masterpiece. And finally, last but not the least, making an apocalypse series as a blend of mythology and science is an awesome idea and it has worked out really well. Some technical works and better writing with more story around the expedition team, like without going for the father son narrative, if the team had come with a hypothesis and later modifying the hypothesis with every single detail they find inside the factory would have been more interesting and would have made this a masterpiece.

Promising Start but Ultimately a Letdown
vigneshshanubhag21 December 2023
This show kicked off with promise, looking like something new. First two episodes were decent. But then, hit episode 3, and it just nosedived. The main guy, the hero, his acting was off from the start-too corny. And don't even get me started on the CGI; it's stuck in the '90s. Shoutout to the supporting cast, they held their own. Except for that kid girl, her acting was a bit off. Others did fine. Overall, started strong but lost its way. Had its moments, but kind of a letdown. Despite its flaws, I found myself hoping for a redemption that sadly never materialized. Here's to hoping they fix the issues in the next season.

Indian audience can't digest the originality of this brilliant piece of work
abhimanyuroat28 November 2023
Let me begin with the fact that I watch a lot of cinema, both regional and international, ranging from indie short films to all-time classics.

Now, I absolutely loved The Village and watched it while I was sick and didn't feel like watching anything (after a 14 hour work day).

I watched it on the very first day of the release.

First of all, guys, this is based on a comic book of the same name by Shasmik Dasgupta. The monsters are very much original. The world has its own rules and the series doesn't flinch from being absolutely gory and brutal.

Each character has a story and while I agree that some characters might have come across as corny, this is literally the next step in the long-dead horror genre of Indian cinema. This is a completely fresh thing and has nothing to do with Tumbbad or Wrong Turn. People who are comparing it to preexisting cult classics, it's very obvious that these people have only watched some popular horrors and have a set idea in mind about what horror is supposed to be like.

This has so much nuance with the village characters. Maybe the series is too bloody but that's most Asian horror for you. It's a terrific piece of work.

If someone from Prime is reading this, guys, literally dub it and push it to other markets outside India. I'm so sure that it'll be liked for its originality if nothing else (just like Dabbe).

What a horrible series...
lideln19 December 2023
How could 33% of viewers give 10 to this?!! Maybe it's the entire film crew and their families who did... Because nobody in their right mind would give 10 to this. It was awful.

I was really enthusiastic at the idea of watching an Indian horror series, and the first episode was somewhat promising, but I became VERY disillusioned quite fast.

There are so many, and I mean SO MANY discrepancies in this series... Bad guys behavior that changed drastically (!!) when confronting random onlookers or "the heroes". Bad guys who behaved like in a very bad sci fi movie from the 70s: grunting and moving suuuuper slowly (and I really mean it!), for what seemed like an eteeeernity. It was awful. Nothing makes sense. Like absolutely nothing, even according to the script. So many scenes that don't make sense, that just "serve the script" because otherwise the director would be embarrassed and not know how to continue the series. I don't want to spoil, but really it happens way too often. Almost all the time, actually.

Like, even whole characters disappeared from the screen for no reason from one sequence to another, just like "ok from now on we won't be using them because I was lazy with the script, so let's pretend they never existed in the first place ok?". Seriously?! It feels like the script was written while the filming took place. It really does.

The bad guys are poorly done, it feels like papier-mâché from several decades ago. Maybe they did not have the budget, but why insisting on the bad guy's face for so long with the camera? Use suggestion instead, like in the first episode!

The heroes are also super stupid, like you want to smash your TV several times.

Summary: it's a VERY bad TV series, with poor make up, poor script, poor acting (mostly, especially the main hero), and the further it goes, the worse it becomes. The final episode is completely and utterly stupid.

Not for typical Indian audience
hvs-4883930 November 2023
Yeah sure concept is taken from wrong turn, hills have eyes & resident all combine but have you ever seen anything like this in Indian cinema?

It's unique and experimental here in it's own way ..they literally broke the barrier of typical Indian movies and series.

Adding the superstition plot to scientific concept is an Indian way of experimenting new things.

Also only south Indian cinema can only do this in India..it's way better then these neat artificially fancied bollywood movies.

Felt like TUMBAAD in a way.

Proud on the directors ,writers and producers of the series.

It's not everyone's cup of tea That's all.

The village is Disgusting.
rajbawa8625 November 2023
A poor vision of the makers that disgusting means horror. I believe they got greatly inspired by Hills have eyes and tried copying it in a very poor attempt. What a wastage of time! Highly poor script, wasted screenplay, and poor direction. Infected characters could have been like resident evil category instead of being way too disgusting with boils all over the body. People love horror for its plot and storyline. Nobody likes watching filthy disgusting stuff like this. Please Amazon, have a good taste of horror genre. Perhaps leran it from other OTT platforms who have done it right. This one was pathetic to its best.

Don't Go Near to this Village
aji4u4ever1 December 2023
Started with a good note but even with cliches it was watchable and when it progressed, the series proved that it is one of the worst in the recent times.

The whole village is poor in terms of writing, screenplay, direction, narration, acting, background score, crappy VFX all gelled to this fantastic show. Most of the scenes are written based on the old movies and it is full of cliches. No logic, no connection between the scenes. All you can see some vulgar action scenes.

In addition to that the performances of the lead actors are pale and doesn't convey much emotions.

I will not recommend anyone to watch this pathetic show.

Total Dud.

Comedy show!
jxwjkdcnt24 November 2023
One of the worst Horror Web series of all time. There is nothing original about it. Starting 15 minutes with lots of promises but fails miserably to take off.

Story : Total rip off from the movies like Wrong Turn and Descent. Adding desi flavone to this cheap horror story with no proper storyline. The editing is horrible. 3/10

CGI/VFX/Makeup : worst one! Cheap CGI and makeup makes it very difficult to watch. It's a torture to the eyes. 1/10

Acting : All the talented actors are wasted in this Nonsense web series. 5/10

Final verdict: 2/10 - It's a real pain for the mind and soul to bear this level of Torture. Request Director Milind Rau to make Comedy show than horror.

Good to Watch
jaganjack10525 November 2023
This is series is really good... Don't expect any logic here... This series is mix of Sci-Fi, Thriller, Horror & supernatural elements and after a long time something different from south industry. Every episode is interesting to watch... Acting could have been better for main leads but other artists are performed well. CGI could have better but i think the budget was low. Waiting for Season 2... Even-though I told logic is not required but still some of the things very absurd. If you are thinking to watch something different from very usual script in tamil then you should definitely check out.

It was a rehash of old clichés, and there was nothing new or unique about it.
shahabkhan-9208225 November 2023
I was really disappointed with this web series. The story itself was just uninspired. It was a rehash of old clichés, and there was nothing new or unique about it. The writing was full of clichés and tired tropes. The dialogue was uninspired. The pacing was slow and uneven. There were long stretches where nothing happened, followed by sudden bursts of action that felt out of place.

The acting was one of the biggest problems with the show. The main characters were all wooden and unconvincing. Their delivery was flat, and their expressions were blank. It was hard to believe in their characters or care about what happened to them

Overall, I would not recommend Web Series The Village to anyone.

Not logical, cheap and flimsy recreations and dull story
DesiReviews27 November 2023
I started watching it but lost it when the guy starts walking in the pitch-dark jungle and claims to walk for 1 and a half hours.

Later he reaches some other small town, talks to people, and starts walking back without getting any help. Dude, just put yourself in his place, why the **** would you go back empty hands, that too walking again?

Later the girl also comes out of the car, starts running around to find their dog, again in the pitch-dark place. At least pretend to hold your phone's flashlight to make it logical.

Stopped watching after those homemade plastic PPU kits and those giant luminescent flowers.

The Village - Is nothing more than a regrettable waste of time
rameshbabunaidu1 December 2023
I recently had the misfortune of watching this series and I must say, it was a truly painful experience. The creators of this series seem to have missed the memo on how to choose a decent script. It's almost as if they picked the first one they stumbled upon without considering its quality or appeal.

The lack of any meaningful message or entertainment value is glaringly apparent throughout the entire series. I found myself desperately searching for some redeeming quality, but alas, it was nowhere to be found. It's disheartening to think that the makers of "The Village" didn't prioritize delivering something worthwhile to their audience.

The adjective "horrible" doesn't even begin to cover it. The series is not only horrible but also downright disgusting. The scenes are not just disturbing; they are a full-fledged assault on the senses. I couldn't help but wonder if the creators were aiming for shock value without any substance to back it up.

In the future, I sincerely hope that the makers take a moment to reflect on the importance of a well-crafted script before subjecting viewers to such a dismal viewing experience. As it stands, "The Village" is nothing more than a regrettable waste of time. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this unfortunate excuse for a web series.

worst series. tried to mimic Tumbaad.
hrishipathak-5457524 November 2023
This is a worst series I have seen in Amazon prime . Amazon prime ratings doesn't justify the series. Very boring. Don't waste your time. Story telling in non existent. Director want to make a zombie or mutant movie. But this is rubbish.

At first I thought this series mimic the Tumbaad movie. But soon I have realised that the series is trash. No story. Some scenes are just non explainable. Budget is pretty low. The props are made out of paper. Any school going kid can make such type of props.

I don't know why Amazon prime released this series. Waste of time. Nothing else. I am pretty disappointed.

I found something different from this series. This series is very good and interesting to watch. I hope there will be a second part. Very good storyline and good acting for the actors. Hopefully the second part will be more tense. Good luck to the director and crew who are very good at working on this series. This series is one of the best series I have ever watched. Please please continue with part two. The second part is more tense, more exciting and more emotional. I am Indonesian but really like films and series from India. And create an arya actor all the best for you. Pleasee part twoooo.

Khan Review - Dissapointment for horror fans
zkzuber26 November 2023
Well being fan of horror genre I felt like treat even this movie released on OTA . The moment the movie start any one who like horror genre will come to know its inspired by the wrong turn . Wrong turn one was a very interesting movie one of the best of that time but even decades of its release the maker of the village even after copying the concept are so poor in creativity they did not even make an average series. Wrong turns proves that location plays a very important part in scary movie this movie fails in that department. The back ground score is good , irritating part was they had to unnecessarily bring in so many characters to make it into typical indian content which was totally waste and not required. Imagine this few chaps who are going on special mission were given dialogues to act like comedians the first episode put me off I am not continuing.

The Village deserves a season 2
tigerpeacockai3 December 2023
"The Village," adapted from the graphic novel published by Yali Dreamworks, immediately establishes its source material in the title card, making it surprising that even seasoned reviewers overlooked this detail. This raises questions about their attention to detail and familiarity with the genre's tropes.

As a cinephile who regularly explores a diverse range of cinema, I found myself thoroughly captivated by "The Village." Even during a bout of sickness, I chose to engage with this series after a grueling 14-hour workday. Watching it on the day of its release heightened the anticipation.

What sets "The Village" apart is the originality of its monsters and the establishment of a world governed by its own rules. The series fearlessly embraces gore and brutality, contributing to its distinctiveness.

Each character is intricately woven into the narrative, providing a unique backstory. While acknowledging that some characters may appear corny, it's essential to recognize that "The Village" represents a bold leap forward for the long-neglected horror genre in Indian cinema. It stands as a fresh and innovative addition, unrelated to established works like "Tumbbad" or "Wrong Turn." Comparisons to these classics may stem from a limited exposure to a broader spectrum of horror.

The series skillfully incorporates nuance, particularly evident in its portrayal of village characters. While some may find it excessively bloody, this aligns with the tendencies of most Asian horror, contributing to the overall impact of the storytelling.

In conclusion, "The Village" emerges as a terrific piece of work deserving recognition beyond Indian borders. A plea is extended to the Prime platform to consider dubbing and promoting the series in international markets, where its originality is likely to be appreciated, much like the success of "Dabbe."

Starts with bang and then it is Possuukkkkk
adidasravi10 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The first scene shows how strong the devils are. But in the next episodes the creatures are not able to chase humans. Even the super fast dogs were not able to chase them down for 5 minutes. It's like whatever director wishes that's being done. Script is so bad. Muthu Kumar acting is the worst. He is suitable for mass scenes. But he doesn't know how to act scared. Illogically the characters are being killed. CGI is also poor. Glowing flowers looks like kindergarten children dance performance stage setup. Till the end they didn't reveal what that heart under the tree is. Overall please don't watch this series. It's not worth your time.

Disgusting
saravanan-nallamuthu30 November 2023
The Village is a prime example of how a promising concept can be utterly butchered by poor execution. From the very first episode, it becomes painfully evident that the creators had little regard for coherence, character development, or even basic storytelling principles.

Let's start with the writing, or lack thereof. The plot meanders aimlessly, leaving viewers perplexed and frustrated. It's as if the writers decided to throw every possible cliché and horror trope into the mix without any concern for cohesion or logical progression. Characters are introduced haphazardly, their backgrounds are barely explored, and their actions are often illogical and inconsistent.

The dialogue is cringe-worthy at best, with characters delivering lines that sound like they were written by someone with a limited understanding of human interaction. The attempts at creating suspense fall flat, and any potential for genuine scares is drowned in a sea of predictability.

The acting does little to salvage the sinking ship that is The Village. Wooden performances and lackluster expressions make it difficult to connect with any of the characters emotionally. It's almost as if the cast themselves were puzzled by the nonsensical script, resulting in a collective lack of engagement that permeates the entire series.

The production quality is another major letdown. The special effects, meant to enhance the horror elements, come across as amateurish and unintentionally comical. The cinematography lacks finesse, with poorly lit scenes making it hard to discern what is happening at times.

One of the most egregious offenses of The Village is its blatant disregard for cultural sensitivity. The portrayal of certain cultural elements is not only inaccurate but borders on offensive, perpetuating stereotypes rather than offering any genuine insight.

In conclusion, The Village is a colossal failure on multiple fronts. Its lackluster writing, subpar acting, and abysmal production quality make it a painful viewing experience. Save yourself the agony and invest your time in a more thoughtfully crafted and well-executed series. The Village is a prime example of how not to create a suspenseful and engaging web series.

Disgusting piece of sshh..
hg586231 December 2023
This was supposed to be horror ..but the show was simply too disturbing to watch .. easily the worst Tamil series on Prime...don't waste your time ..

The director did piecewise copies from many movies and tv shows but added a level of disturbing stuff that will really bother you!! You can simply watch hills have eyes or wrong turn or tumbadd and probably feel better than watching this nonsense ....

Arya normally does a good job selecting the scripts but here he did a poor choice ..all the actors did justice to their roles but the story and direction is simply too low to make it even watchable !!!
