When the group of kids is heading back to the construction site, the movie shortly plays a view of the Superstition Mountains. The Superstition Mountains are in the Phoenix area of Arizona, and definitely NOT in Nevada. This is a clear geological oversight.
When the kids are driving the car, it is in park the whole time.
When the kids are driven through the desert by the government agents, there are many saguaros visible. This places them in Arizona, not Nevada where the story is set.
