Nice Enough Love Story
PalmBeachG27 February 2023
Really, the first time I ever watched a Filipino movie or drama. For some reason it came up on my Netflix list so I decided to watch it and found it was a nice love story. Actually I never heard of the term "Inconvenient Love" before so I didn't even know what they meant and they added it to their love contract that they made - what I took from it is that it meant that you only love when it is convenient for you - such as only when you are happy and not when the other person may need you the most because things are going sad or going wrong. You may want to bail when things get tough. Well the lead male I definitely loved in his role - he was cute and played it perfectly. Both the ML and the FL learned from their love so it was worth watching.

Bland, predictable and filled with cliches.

I have seen these actors together in several productions already and they are quite nice.

This time they interpret simpler characters and even though its supposed to be a lighthearted love story, this didn't make me feel anything.

There's too many holes in the story and the characters are just not well developed, the reasons of their ups and downs are not very believable and they just fill the movie with easy typical cute scenes but that aren't really meaningful.

I watched this in the airport waiting to board my plane, just to pass time, otherwise I wouldn't have wasted my time.

This story tries to reach further and deeper and falls very short, not a pass for me.

Cliche

Warning: Spoilers
Who writes this kind of s***? I thought Enrico Santos was better than this, I was wrong. Cliche, boring, dragging, a lot of times unrealistic. First chance encounter of the two leads and already a red flag? If a guy asked me to pretend to be his girlfriend while being chased by uniformed authorities I'd smack his face and run away as fast as I can. It's a classic rich guy with a purpose meets poor girl with a dream, both from problematic/dysfunctional families, but falls in love despite having nothing in common. And please stop stealing scenes from other movies. 500 days of Summer is one of my favorite movies, did they think viewers wouldn't notice?

I'm rating this 3 stars because I think the two leads are promising specially Donny Pangilinan and I like Belle. They deserve a better script! This was a waste of Epy, Matet's and Tirso's talents. The gay friend's character entertained me though, probably the only interesting character in the story. That was a big relief.

At the end of the day I blame myself for giving Filipino movies a chance. Enough with this trash. Pinoys deseve better!

Great depiction of love in the new generation

The ML and FL's story is the story of many youngsters in the Philippines today. Where everything needs to move fast and every decision you make needs to be sure. Or else, you'll be left behind and the people around you, even your family will make you feel like a failure. That why you must not get distracted by the inconveniences of love. But this movie showed that despite all the inconveniences, you can still fight for what you want. And just be brave, you know.

Meanwhile, the leads' chemistry is superior. They're such a joy to watch and they're really attractive by the way. They're also great actors and even the other characters. I can feel their emotions through the screen. I'm looking forward to their future projects together.

It definitely was an inconvenience...

Right, well I didn't really know what I was in for here, when I sat down to watch the 2022 Filipino romantic comedy "An Inconvenient Love" from director Petersen Vargas. However, I figured that it would be a straight forward romantic comedy, as the Philippines cinema is well-known for.

However, writers Daisy Cayanan and Enrico C. Santos had put together a script and storyline that fell very short of entertaining me. It was a script that seemed aimed at a young adult audience, and thus I was definitely not in the right target audience. And as such, I found very little entertainment in "An Inconvenient Love".

I gave up on the movie just 40 minutes into the ordeal. But by then I was good and ready to claw my eyes out. And the prospect of suffering through 122 minutes of this torment was just not something I was willing to endure. So I tossed the towel in the ring and gave up on the movie out of sheer and utter boredom.

And the 40 minutes that I did sit through was basically a very generic and right out of the how-to-make-a-romantic-comedy textbook. So the movie didn't really break any new ground here.

Given my very limited exposure to the Filipino cinema, then I was fully and wholly unfamiliar with the cast ensemble here. They performed well enough, I would say, despite of me finding no enjoyment in the storyline.

"An Inconvenient Love" is not a movie that I will ever return to attempt to finish. The movie was well out of my scope of what I enjoy in movies, and thus there was nothing to entertain me here.

My rating of "An Inconvenient Love" lands on a very generous three out of ten stars, based mostly on the production value of the movie and the acting performances.
