Ben Elton: Laughing at the 80s
jboothmillard6 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I like programmes that reminisce on things you may or not have watched yourself, because you can relive and watch the things you remember and become interested in watching the things you haven't, and this show focusing on television in a particular decade was no exception. Presented by Ben Elton, this documentary looks back at the best television comedy shown during the eighties, i.e. between the years 1980 - 1989, with insights into why they they captured the time, from those who starred and helped make them, and many of of the funniest moments from them. With contributions from Clive Anderson, Jo Brand, Adrian Edmondson, Harry Enfield, Stephen Fry, Lenny Henry, Dom Joly, Alistair McGowan, Lee Mack, Rik Mayall, Al Murray, Graham Norton, Nigel Planer, Rowland Rivron, Janet Street-Porter, Jimmy Tarbuck and Victoria Wood. Comedy programmes and series talked about and shown in the show include The Young Ones, 'Allo 'Allo, Five Go Mad in Dorset, The Black Adder, Blackadder II, Blackadder the Third, Blackadder Goes Forth, Spitting Image, Saturday Night Live, Friday Night Live (Loadsamoney, Stavros), Only Fools and Horses, French & Saunders, Little & Large, Cannon & Ball, Victoria Wood As Seen On TV (Acorn Antiques). Good!
