- Joker tries to keep the Dynamic Duo off his trail while plotting to destroy all of Gotham with a giant laser. / The Penguin, under the guise of being a prisoner, breaks out of his jail cell and frames Batman and Robin for crimes he commits.
- HOW MANY HERRING IN A WHEELBARROW? (two parts) - One night a car approaches the security guard at RX Chemical, a vast laboratory. The driver hands him what looks like an ID card, but it's actually a Joker card from the Clown Prince Of Crime himself, and it explodes in the guard's face and knocks him out. And speaking of knock, to get into the lab Joker does just that, via his customized battering ram blasting open the nearby wall. Once inside Joker uses a tiny spy camera to photograph some documents marked Top Secret, then makes off with a valueless vial with goldfish - actually red herrings in the literal and figurative sense of the term.
When Joker later raids Gotham Planetarium, it brings out Batman and Robin, but aside from implanting his image on the telescope lens and making off with some minor souvenirs, no harm is done. Joker and his gang then dig their way into Solar Dynamics Factory, knock out another guard, photograph some more mysterious Top Secret documents, then steals an old wheelbarrow, Joker hoping the metaphor brings Batman and Robin into his trap.
Indeed, Batman begins to figure out Joker's metaphor - in an old story a thief covers up theft of wheelbarrows by pretending to use a wheelbarrow to steal sawdust. He and Robin intercept Joker when he breaks into Gotham Industrial Labs, but a Joker crash car impedes the Batmobile, then a fire bomb from Joker's primary car inflames the streets and momentarily stymies Batman, but The Dynamic Duo tracks down Joker to his hideout at the Gotham Fairgrounds. Once inside Joker activates a magnetic slide that drops Batman and Robin toward a mammoth fire, this while Joker taunts them about pulling off one more job.
The Dynamic Duo activate the electrical power of their belts, and the shock demagnetizes the slide and snuffs out the fire. Batman now guesses the Joker's real scheme, and the Bat Computer proves him right by revealing Joker has stolen information from the four technology entities to build a giant solar mirror with which he can burn the city to a crisp. He first must steal an electronic detonator, and Batman and Robin are too late to stop him, but the head engineer at Gotham Power & Light states Joker needs a large power plant to activate his mirror - and there is only one such available facility, the abandoned power house on a hill perfect for receiving solar energy. The ensuing confrontation leaves Batman no choice but to work his way into the dangerous heart of the reactivated power house and destroy the mammoth master electrodes that power the weapon.
