Fourteen-year-old Kayla Herrick lives in a town unlike ours, a charming place full of peculiar characters and strange occurrences. However, even this eccentric world is too mundane for Kayla who skips school and plots to overcome her boredom, by raising old bald Mr Ferguson from the dead. It is here that her journey around the town begins. From nosey Mrs. Tulk to the nervous Father Herrick she collects items in order to go through with her plan. With shovel, goldfish and candles in hand Kayla enters the gave yard. It's clear that boredom really is the devils playground.
