- The crew finds out that a shady plastics exporter whose dumping threatens local waters is smuggling black market antiquities on his barges, and plots to relieve him of his ill-gotten gains.
- As the crew prepare to go up against a shady plastic exporter and smuggler, they discover that an old "friend" of Sophie's is working for the exporter... and Sophie doesn't want to discuss her history with the man, or her own past... even though it may put the job as risk.—Gislef
- Marcus Wilkins and his mother DeDe finish working in the local bay, cleaning up dumped plastics. As they walk back from the dock to their boat, two nearby thugs use a remote to blow up the boat. DeDe looks over and sees the thugs drive off.
Later, Harry, Eliot, and Sophie come out and meet with DeDe, who tells them that nobody bothers and the dumped plastic is destroying her family's shrimp-fishing business. She came to Harry to see if there was a legal solution, but she has no evidence foe the bombing against the man responsible, local shipping magnate Clyde Hammond, DeDe got a reporter to put her on, but everyone ignored it except Hammond, who sent his thugs to bomb her boat. Sophie assures DeDe that they'll make Hammond pay for breaking things.
Back at the bar, Breanna runs a background check on Hammond. She briefs Sophie, and tells her that Harry is looking into Hammond's financials, while Sophie and Eliot have been infiltrated into Hammond's work crew as dockworkers.
At the docks, Eliot spots Hammond, who is using a sat phone. Breanna manages to hack the sat phone, and Harry comes in. The US hasn't signed an international accord to prevent trash dumping, so what Hammond is doing is technically legal. It's not legal to dump plastic trash overseas, just for them to dump it, so Hammond makes money dumping US trash in foreign waters. He dumps the excess trash in the Gulf. Hammond has bought insurance but there's no record of him buying anything worth insuring, and Sophie figures that Hammond is smuggling in antiquities using the trash as cover.
Hammond is at the docks supervising the unloading of his latest shipment. Parker follows Hammond, who is personally inspecting his most recent shipment of black market antiquities. Sophie figures Hammond didn't want DeDe signing the spotlight on him because it risked his smuggling operation, and that's how they can get him.
Breanna sets Sophie up with credentials as an art authenticator for the insurance company, but since Hammond's collection is illegal, he'll have to bribe Sophie. Then they'll dig up the deets and shut down his smuggling operation. Breanna wonders how that shuts down trash-dumping corporation, and Sophie explains that the best they can do is help DeDe.
Eliot escorts Sophie to Hammond's warehouse, and she goes into Hammond's office. She tells him who she (supposedly) is and why she's there, but he has a forger who has made up papers of provenance for him. Sophie covers and identifies the items in Hammond's collection, The items are fakes, but Hammond doesn't know Sophie is bluffing: there are fakes mixed in with his collection. Hammond tells Sophie that he has an authenticator, and the authenticator, Arthur Wilde, comes in. Sophie knows his work and he knows Sophie. He plays along with Sophie's cover rather than expose her, and Sophie plays along with Arthur playing along. Arthur talks to Sophie privately and complains that she's there to undercut him. Sophie takes her comms out when Arthur starts talking about Sophie's past aliases. Eliot, nearby, tells Breanna and Parker who are listening in.
Arthur tells Sophie to get away from Hammond so she doesn't ruin his con. He sells the occasional artifact and replace them with fakes, all so he can line his pockets, and Sophie suggests Arthur bump it up a bit. Arthur mentions Hammond's private collection, but says he's not interested in big cons like Sophie hints she's working on. He's not interested and tells Sophie to stay out of his way.
Back at the bar, Sophie suggests to the crew that they "work around" Arthur. She points out the hidden container Arthur told her about, and they should return the favor. Eliot asks who Arthur is to Sophie, and Sophie tells the others that they respect everyone's past and she doesn't want to talk about it. She says that she'll take care of Arthur, and Breanna confirms that Hammond's mahjong set has three missing tiles that he's looking for. Breanna assures the team that she can fake the ivory the missing tiles are made from, They'll put trackers in the tiles, drop them into Hammond's auction, buy them, and then pay him to smuggle them, and then follow them to his hidden cache.
Later, Parker and Eliot infiltrate an auction Hammond is attending. Eliot "accidentally" bumps into Hammond, and Parker secretly swipes a jade tiara. Arthur intervenes and leads Eliot off, and privately tells him that he knows Eliot was creating a distraction. Sophie joins them and says that she'll handle it, and Eliot leaves. The con man reminds Sophie that he told her to stay away from Hammond, and Hammond sees the together and notices that the tiara has been replaced with the missing tiles.
Arthur talks to Sophie privately and she tells him that she can get them both what they want. Eliot is listening in via the comms and reminds her that she said she could handle Arthur. She ignores him and tells Arthur that he'll make ten times as much from his cut of stealing Hammond's collection. Arthur agrees, even though he "died" in the last one of Sophie's scheme.
Sophie and Arthur go back to Hammond, and Arthur says that he knows the tiles' seller through Sophie. Sophie assures Hammond that the tiles' provenance is authentic. Harry is nearby and slips Arthur a business card, and Arthur tells Hammond, posing as "the Chechen", that Harry's employer has offered to out bit them on the tiles, and smuggle them into the country through Hammond's operation. Hammond agrees.
Hammond talks to his aide, and Parker reads their lips and confirms that they'll pick up the item and then take it to Hammond's container/cache in Indonesia, and they'll dump a few of their containers in the Gulf and claim that they lost the tiles in the containers because pirates attacked them.
The next day at the docks, the aide, Anton, puts the tiles into a container. At the bar, Breanna tracks the tiles but loses the tracking signal because of the active counter measures in the container. They tell Sophie, who is near the docks with Arthur. Sophie tells Arthur, who isn't happy that his con is at risk. She assures him that they're not done yet.
Back at the bar, Sophie tells the crew that they need Arthur to find the container. Eliot figures that she and Arthur are personally involved, and tells her to come clean.
Parker and Breanna go to the docks to find the container and tag it. Meanwhile at the bar, Sophie tells Harry and Eliot that when she was starting out, she teamed up with Arthur on the streets. They joined up with a crew doing art forgery, and the boss was brilliant but terrifying. He saw potential in Sophie, and set her up in high society. She convinced them to buy Arthur's fakes, but an old duke took her in and Sophie genuinely liked him. Someone spotted one of Arthur's forgeries, and the boss convinced Sophie to let Arthur go to prison instead of her. She should have said no but didn't. Sophie insists that Arthur can do it but Eliot isn't convinced. She tells Eliot that she owes Arthur, and Eliot gives in... hoping she's right about Arthur. After Eliot walks off, Harry asks Sophie if she's going to choose DeDe or her old partner.
Later, Sophie goes to the docks with Arthur and he points out that her new plan relies heavily on him. He wants a bigger cut and they come to a new arrangement. Arthur figures that Sophie gave in too easily and asks what's in it for her, and she tells him that it's none of his business. He figures she doesn't trust him, and tells her that she shouldn't.
They meet with Hammond, and Arthur "figures" that Hammond stole the tiles for his personal collection. Sophie and Arthur explain that Harry works for a terrorist, and Sophie says that they have to fix it by having Hammond gives the tiles back. Hammond refuses, figuring that they have no way of knowing he took the tiles, and they're going to do anything to him anyway on US soil. Hammond also says that he knows Eliot was at the dock, as well as the auction, and Sophie and Arthur talk to him. When Hammond demands an explanation and draws a gun, Arthur says that Eliot is a Fed and bent, and has been working the art world for years. Arthur says that Eliot can be bought, and Hammond believes him..
Breanna and Parker search the first of 63 possible containers, and find nothing.
Hammond and Anton meets with Eliot, and Eliot threatens to tell his boss McSweeten about what Hammond is doing. Eliot demands 40% of Hammond's operation and walks off. Hammond tells Anton to get the tiles from the container and have the barge go to international waters, while he negotiates with Harry to make a deal and then get rid of Eliot's blackmail and maybe Eliot.
Later, Anton gets the tiles from the container and brings them to the warehouse. The barge puts out to sea, while Harry slips into Hammond's office and waits for him and Anton. He says that his boss can take care of Hammond's problems, including Eliot, but wants the entire mahjong set. Harry has already packet them up, takes the fakes from tiles, tells Hammond that his boss can solve all of Hammond's problems, and leaves. Hammond then gets a call from the barge.
The next day, Sophie goes to the warehouse and meets with Hammond. Arthur is with Hammond, and has already told him who Sophie really is, and what's she up to. Sophie says that Arthur has been selling Hammond fakes for months, and Arthur claims that Sophie is tossing out blame to confuse things. He says that he told Sophie not to trust him, and Hammond tells Anton to get the others. Arthur mentions the trackers, and tells Hammond that he just found out about them. Hammond angrily tells Arthur that he gave the bugged tiles to Harry, and Harry will never believe he didn't do it on purpose.
Hammond goes to his office to make a call. Arthur goes after him to tell him that Harry is also a fake. and Hammond doesn't want to hear it and draws a gun on Arthur. Arthur says he can fix it but they have to get rid of Sophie. Sophie has already slipped away in the confusion. When Arthur says that Sophie and her crew are emptying the container. Hammond points out that the container is on his ship and he's going to get rid of Arthur if they can't find Sophie.
Sophie goes out to the containers and runs into Anton and a couple of thugs. She calls Eliot on the comms to tell him that she needs his help. Eliot drops down from atop the containers and tells Sophie to go, and takes out the thugs and Anton.
Elsewhere in the containers, Hammond gets a call on his sat phone but there's too much interference from the containers to make out the call. Harry is trying to call Hammond, and stumbles on the fight. When Hammond arrives with Arthur, Harry is on the ground seemingly dead from a knife, and Anton only knows that they were attacked and doesn't know what happened afterward. Hammond asks Arthur what he's going to do and threatens to shoot Arthur, then figure he can call McSweeten and get protection in return for his testimony. He walks off to make the call, ignoring Arthur trying to explain that Eliot is a fake. Hammond figures that he'll need a fall guy for the FBI and the terrorists, and points out that Arthur set up Hammond's meeting with Harry and Eliot. He finally listens to Arthur, who explains that it's a con and Harry and Eliot were in on it. Hammond shoots Arthur in the chest and runs to a boat, and takes off for international waters as Sophie and Eliot run to the pier.
Harry arrives, and Arthur comes back to "life". Earlier when he broke into Hammond's office, Harry swapped the bullets in the gun out for blanks, and Arthur insists that he played the cowardly act perfectly. Also, Harry and Eliot faked Harry's death. Eliot takes Harry home, and Sophie checks in Breanna. Breanna has already sent out Sophie's story to dozens of news outlets, while Parker is on the phone with Hammond's satellite provider.
Hammond is on his barge, and Sophie calls him. He figures he can go to any international port, and Sophie tells him that he'll never get off the barge because Harry hacked Hammond's laptop in the office and took all of the money from his overseas bank accounts. The crew has stolen all of the antiquities, leaving plastic trash which falls on Hammond when he opens the container. Earlier, Parker and Breanna followed Anton to the collector when he went there to get the fake tiles, and they switched the ID numbers so the wrong container was put on the barge. Thanks to Parker's call to the provider, Hammond's cell phone goes dead so he can't call for help.
Later, the crew help the Wilkins clean the bay, and used the stolen finances to replace their boat and fund the cleanup of the bay. Breanna has called the news station about a follow up to DeDe's interview, and a film crew is there. Sophie apologizes to Arthur about letting him go to prison years ago, and the girl he knew isn't her anymore. Arthur tells her to stop pretending she can make amends for what she's done in the past, and she hasn't changed from what she was. He leaves, and Sophie talks to Harry, thanking him for what he did on the con. Sophie says that Nate would never admit to having a blind spot, but relied on her to point them out. She says that she has her own, and thanks Harry for pointing them out. Sophie hopes Harry will stick around to keep pointing them out.
Later back at the bar, Breanna shows Sophie an article about DeDe talking about the Gulf pollution. Breanna admits that Sophie was right about saying that they couldn't take on the world's bigger problems but can help individual people, and asks Sophie why she didn't tell the crew about Arthur. Sophie says that they can't dwell on the past, but keep moving forward. Breanna points out that when you look back, you can see how much you changed.
