"Once I started meddling around I found a ghost." Who said YouTube comments weren't worth anything? Player Two is a new short film (running under 2 minutes, impressive!) from filmmaker John Wikstrom that's based entirely on a comment from YouTube. The story is about a boy, Zac Pullam (seen on "Finding Carter"), who used to play video games with his dad on one of those old clunky Xbox consoles, and discovers a way to reconnect with him years later. Wikstrom is the talented filmmaker behind two other shorts we've featured - The Hatchling and Chloe - and should be making features in Hollywood by now. Give this a look. From Vimeo. The short film is based on a YouTube comment by "00WARTHERAPY00", which can be seen here in full: imgur.com/TH7Pr7c. It's about a young gamer who discovers he can still spend time playing a racing game with his late father.

"Someone wants to go on a walk...!" If you saw Disney's animated Big Hero 6 in theaters last year, you saw the wonderful short film before it called Feast from director Patrick Osborne. It's a delightful animated short told from the perspective of a dog that one boy adopts, and it's nominated for an Oscar. Well, similar to Feast, another short film has hit the web called Chloe and it's a live-action short film told from the Pov of a dog (a golden retriever). This one tells a much more honest, real-life story and is a bit more "adult" we should say, but it's just as good. Made by the same filmmaker who gave us the short The Hatchling. Enjoy! Short description from Vimeo: "Dogsitting's easy, responsibility's a Bitch." Indeed. This short film Chloe is written & directed by up-and-coming filmmaker John Wikstrom (follow him @WikStorm), of the dino egg short The Hatchling previously.

"I don't think it was a toy... it was something else, something special." After posting the short for The Grey Matter, I was emailed by a reader named Jj who recommended I watch another short that he "loved" called The Hatchling about a boy and his dinosaur egg. Indeed it's a fantastic short that has a touch of Spielberg by way of Jurassic Park. Instead of going dark or violent and down the horror path with this one, the short plays on the magic of childhood and our imaginations, and the possibility of anything. It's a charming short that ends in a way that should make you smile, while lighting up your own imagination. View in full below. Here's the only synopsis I could find: Breaking an egg is one thing, but breaking a heart is another. The Hatchling is a short film written and directed by John Wikstrom, produced by Michael Bennett Smith,...
