Jules (Courteney Cox), you may be surprised to know, has a bit of a problem with Holly, the woman who gave birth to Jill (Tampa, although Jules is now calling her Jill) with Grayson (Josh Hopkins). She tends to come by and wants to bond over shots of tequila, which Jules can't turn down, because it's tequila. After all, if it weren't for tequila, Travis (Dan Byrd) wouldn't exist, either. But Ellie (Christa Miller) will step up to the plate and tell Holly she has to do a thing with Jules. Yes, she drops dime on her friend.
Jules wants a wedding on the beach, but the city doesn't permit those, although Andy (Ian Gomez) was successful in getting a speed bump installed in the cul-de-sac, mostly so Bobby wipes out on his golf cart. But when the mayor, who was the father of that guy Laurie dated last season, turns her down (and announces he's married to Barb), it's time for stronger action, like Andy running for mayor so he can allow weddings on the beach. Andy is excited, and naturally Ellie shoots him down.
Bobby (Brian Van Holt) is totally enjoying the black-and-white cookie Laurie (Busy Philipps) made for him at Krazy Kakes...mainly because it's a day old and therefore free...and thinks the cake she made to look like a camera would look great around the neck of the Asian customer in the store. Oops. Oh, and somehow he only ate the white side of his black-and-white cookie. Now, once Bobby was informed of his gaffe, he felt horrible and apologized, paying for the man's custom cake. But he was still having problems because he was becoming afraid of saying other things that were racially or ethnically insensitive. Like he was wondering in his mind if the black customer in the store could dunk a basketball. Laurie didn't think that was a big deal...until Bobby actually ASKED the black customer in the store if he could dunk. (he could, BTW) Obsessed with not acting like this, Laurie got together Sig, Andy, and Wade, her Skype boyfriend who was stationed in Afghanistan. Wade () wasn't thrilled, but that was because Laurie was fully clothed, and everybody wondered why Andy was there, even though he already stated he was Latino, but Andy assured Bobby if he was thinking about the right things to say in his mind, at least he could say he was ahead of a lot of other people.
Travis found Holly in a coffee shop, where her Internet date didn't go so well. Ignoring the fact her date hated kids might have had something to do with it. But he tried to play nice when his mother wouldn't, and he was rewarded with Holly's tongue down his throat, which his mother caught him doing. She read him the riot act, but then he tells her he's in love with Holly. Jules stews on that one for a while, almost screaming at Grayson to intervene, but it turns out Travis was only doing that to teach her a lesson. Jules refused to accept Holly, and Grayson informed her she would have to accept Holly at some level because Holly is the mother of Jill (OK, the Tampa joke has played itself out, so the baby is Jill from now on), and well both Grayson and Travis tend to forgive a lot of Holly's faults because of her spectacular rack. Such as leaving her baby at Jules' house after making out with Travis on her couch.
Jules turns to Ellie for help, since Ellie's best feature is that she makes it OK for Jules to be selfish once in a while. However, Ellie was into her second bottle of wine (it was only white, so she thought it was no big deal) and was having a serious case of the guilts for shooting down Andy wanting to be mayor. So while Ellie gives Andy the go-ahead to run for mayor, Jules is once again on an island with regards to Holly. But Travis points out the best thing about his mom: she lives with everyone's faults. Such as Grayson's metrosexuality, Travis' snarkiness, Ellie's selfishness, and well, Bobby. And Travis thinks if she lets go of the things that annoy her about Holly, she'd see Holly is just some young woman who was thrown into motherhood at an early age and is trying the best she can. Seeing Holly playing with Jill at the park convinces her of that, so she tries to bond with Holly. Over wine instead of tequila. But since wine tastes like spicy vodka to Holly, that's good enough for Jules.
