Romantic bliss!
TheLittleSongbird4 May 2012
Under the Desert Sky is my second favourite of Andrea Bocelli's DVs after A Night in Tuscany, which I felt captured Bocelli's versatility a little more. I loved the romantic atmosphere, the beautiful setting of Lake Las Vegas and the humorous good-natured chemistry between Bocelli and David Foster. I happen to also like Andrea Bocelli, he is very passionate and moving and has a beautiful-distinctive voice. Under the Desert Sky shows his first departure from classical music and opera, and into the Latin songs/pop repertoire. The music is simply gorgeous, right from The Prayer, September Morn Can't Help Falling in Love to Solamente Una Vez, Mementos to L'Appuntamento, and they are beautifully performed by the orchestra.

Bocelli is also on top form, he sings The Prayer wonderfully with Heather Headley, though the rendition just lacks the timeless partnership of Bocelli and Celine Dion in A Night in Central Park. Can't Help Falling in Love is also surprising, but the vulnerable and romantic side to Bocelli is at its best in the Latin numbers, especially Solamente Una Vez, Amapola and Estate. Comparing this with the DVD and CD, both are worth it, but while the DVD is note perfect, I don't find the Can't Help Falling in Love rendition on the CD anywhere near as good as the DVD version, Bocelli is great but Katherine McPhee takes too many distracting liberties. All in all though, Under the Desert Sky is simply put...romantic bliss! 10/10 Bethany Cox
