- Nrupatunga, a journalist decides to interview Ajatashatru, the police officer regarding deaths of a suspect and an informant in a money laundering case. The interview takes place at Ajatashatru's home. Ajatashatru narrates the story from the moment he had arrived at Binnal's home. Dhusyanth, a colleague of Ajatashatru is already presiding over the crime scene. Binnal, Ajatashatru's informant was shot dead. Dhusyanth analyses the crime scene and looking at Binnal's dead body he says two bullets were fired at him and the shooter seemed to be an expert. Cheeru was a prime suspect, and the police had kept him under surveillance in a money-laundering activity. According to Ajatashatru, after killing Binnal, Cheeru took off with the bag full of money. Dhusyanth quoting the neighbors and says that three rounds were fired. Ajatashatru confidently says that he heard two gun shots he saw Cheeru leaving Binnal's house and suspects him to be the killer. After tracking Cheeru, Ajatashatru arrives at his home and finds a gun Cheeru used to kill Binnal. Cheeru waited for Ajatashatru like a hungry animal. Both of them engaged in a bloody encounter and finally, according to Ajatashatru's story, Cheeru shot himself. Now that he had finished his narration, Ajatashatru asked Nrupatunga to bombard him with her questions. Nrupatunga corners Ajatashatru with her interrogation. He tries his best to dodge himself out of them. But with her excellent tactical questionnaire, she finally asks him "Do you admit you did not go by the books" and he declines to answer her questions any further. She knew his story was coaxed. She suspects foul play. Her questions were already so humiliating to Ajatashatru and like icing on a cake, she gets up to leave by calling him a fraud. When she is at the door Ajatashatru taunts her by saying 'You haven't seen a gun in your whole life and you guys (meaning journalists) think a pen is a weapon.' she halts. Ajatashatru begins to narrate the actual happenings. He is at Binnal's home waiting Cheeru. When Cheeru and Binnal step in, Ajatashatru nabs Cheeru and takes him in custody. Binnal has cold feet at the crucial moment in Ajatashatru's plan. His loyalty shifts from Ajatashatru to Cheeru. Cheeru uses the opportunity and asks Binnal to pull the gun from the bag and shoot Ajatashatru. In this Scuffle Cheeru escapes and Binnal's betrayal displeases Ajatashatru and he shoots Binnal. Cheeru stays behind for the guilt of exploiting Binnal and to avenge for his death. At his house, he and Ajatashatru engage in a bloody encounter. Cheeru is brutally injured. Ajatashatru knows no mercy and ties the loose ends by shooting Cheeru. His narration rests and he asks Nrupatunga if she can print the story. She is so taken aback by his confession that it's suffocating for her to sit with a man who killed two men at gunpoint. Nrupatunga leaves with a dilemma. By: Sachin Dushi
