I'm usually not into cop shows but the combination of the setting (the 70s, just distant enough to be nostalgic), the location (Navaho reservation, including the gorgeous Monument Valley) and the actors/characters has got me hooked.
A big factor is the way they weave in supernatural/mythic elements. Not like the X-Files, having Bigfoot show up in a scene, but with a deft hand, just like they did last season. They understand the concept, Less Is More.
And it looks like they'll be utilizing the hippy-dippy trends of the 1970s, where white people were horning in on Native American religious customs because it was hip, cool and fun.
