- A man sees an apparition of a woman whose face has a gaping fleshy hole taking up her entire face. The shot of her face is very brief, but the state of her face is quite graphic.
- Apparitions of dead soldiers are seen briefly; their faces are discolored.
- A soldier hangs himself; we see his hanging body and very bloody face in a few scenes.
- A man has a dream that a fellow soldier is lying face-down on his pillow, covered in blood. The soldier looks up from the pillow with a bloody face. The shot is very quick.
- A young woman is shown with a deformed face, though her deformity is played more for pity than fear.
- Throughout the film, soldiers and children die from unapparent causes; they all die in the same manner, though the characters struggle to understand what this manner is.
- A man begins to scream, and it suddenly appears as if he is unable to control his arm. We then see his arm begin to twist unnaturally as he screams.
- A soldier becomes possessed; he begins to thrash violently and make demonic noises.
- A woman goes into labor, we see her collapse on the ground, and in the next shot she is shown in a puddle of blood. At first we believe she has miscarried the child, but we later hear it survived.
- A woman coughs a small amount of blood into a napkin, she later dies in the same scene.
- Bullying is a strong theme in the film; a few soldiers are physically and verbally abused throughout the film, which leads to a few physical fights.
