Chloé has a breakdown and begins to throw and break objects in her apartment. She is admitted to the Les Cambrières psychiatric clinic, where Rocher is informed by Dr. Capel that she is sedated. The criminologist suffers from reactive depression due to the sudden loss of the baby she was expecting. Rocher thinks she came back to work too soon after her sick leave. The doctor becomes interested in the last case they worked on together two days before, for it could have been an additional emotional burden for her. Rocher explains that it did not end well: Laurent Mérieux, a 24-year-old waiter, who was stabbed and blindfolded. The first suspect was Frank Manurin, co-worker of the deceased, who was missing.
