Donnie Yen in Ip Man 4: The Finale (2019)

Goofs

Ip Man 4: The Finale

Edit

Factual errors

In the last scene where a figure (allegedly Bruce Lee) pays his respect to Yip Man's Funeral, this didn't happen. Bruce Lee was not told of his sifu's passing.
There is no way in the world that anyone who is not an ICE bigshot could walk into an ICE facility and demand a prisoner be handed over. In the case of law enforcement they would have their bosses call the ICE bosses, and the detainee would be signed for. A Marine can not just storm into the facility and intimidate an ICE official... the official would be less afraid of a beating than of losing his pension.
On the wall of Bruce Lee's gym, there is a poster advertising a boxing match between Cassius Clay and Archie Moore at Miami Beach Auditorium. This is a fight that never happened. Moore and Clay -- better known later in his career as Muhammad Ali -- only fought once, in Los Angeles. Miami Beach Auditorium instead played host to Ali's first fight with Sonny Liston.

Miscellaneous

In the opening scene which is at the San Francisco International Karate Tournament (1964), the exterior of the building is shot at Preston Guildhall. In the background, the sign for the "Stanley Arms" pub can still be seen.

Errors in geography

The nearest Marine base to San Francisco is Camp Pendleton, about 300 miles away. The Marine Corp Recruit Depot is a few miles farther away. This film showed a nearby base with flat green fields and no mountains in the background. That can not be in or near San Francisco.

Character error

Racism against Chinese (and East Asians in general) is a significant topic in this film, particularly with the U.S. Marines having to recognize Wu Shu as a potential combat style. When Colin Frater arrives at the Mid-Autumn Festival, he announces that he is going to demonstrate his karate skills to the "yellow bitches." Yet, Colin Frater and the other Marines seem to have forgotten that karate originated from Japan.
