Sometimes when you’re at a cross roads in life, you do some crazy, misguided things, like head to a rural farm owned by a creepy elderly shut-in. This is what happens in the new independent horror film “The Suffering.” In the film, property appraiser Henry Dawles (Nick Apostolides) has a diminished bank account and a baby on the way with his estranged wife (Elizabeth Deo). Realizing his personal life is in shambles, he decides to take a lucrative offer from elderly shut-in Mr. Remiel (Phil Amico) to appraise his rural estate. Once he arrives, he explores the vast and beautiful estate only to discover that not everything is as it seems. Soon, he closes in on the dark truths of the land, and must fight for his sanity amidst sinister beings and Remiel’s menacing, eccentric behavior.
