- The team is in shock after Kevin's murder. They deduce that he was acting as a vigilante patrolling the alleys to prevent further murders but the witness who saw his death presumed he was out to harm her. She identifies the slayer as a woman but pathologist Dr. Waring disputes this and sees no link with Lucy Payne's death, causing Annie to doubt. Randall is cleared of Hayley's murder when he is given an alibi and, with several likely suspects,Banks is back at square one. Annie however learns of a former rape victim whose perpetrator was murdered before she disappeared, providing a link to Lucy Payne and a clue to the identity of the double murderer.—don @ minifie-1
- The police now have a third murder on their hands: that of DC Kevin Templeton, a member of Banks' team. He was killed in the same alley as Haley Daniels and in a manner quite similar to Lucy Payne but Annie's suggestion that she take charge of the murder investigation does not go down well. The pathologist, Dr. Waring, is of the opinion that Kevin was killed with a serrated knife while Lucy was killed with a thin, sharp blade. She also says a man was likely responsible for one death and a woman for the other. Annie isn't sure about that conclusion. A witness comes forward with an alibi for Timothy Randall so Banks is back to square one with Haley Daniels' murder. As for Kevin's murder, they make a relatively quick arrest but Annie is right - there is a link between her case and Kevin's murder.—garykmcd
