A New Birth of Freedom

Hell on Wheels

Edit

Continuity

When Durant spills the liqueur over his desk by missing his glas, his (missed) glas is empty. When Henri comes in to clean the mess up, the glass is about half full and when the camera angle changes, it is empty again.

Revealing mistakes

When Cullen is escorting Lilly Bell back to camp, right after the shootout, they are riding through a wooded meadow. A fence can be seen stretching across the meadow in the background as well as some horses grazing in the field. In 1865 very little of the Nebraska Territory was settled, it was still wild country with hostile bandits and Indians, there were very few homesteads in the area; and even if there were horses would not be left to graze unattended, they would be stolen. Plus fences were very rarely used at that time, a person that used fencing to mark their land was not looked on favorably by others, as it said they did not trust their neighbors, plus it marred the landscape.

Character error

Durant recites a passage from the Bible: "Wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near. Hammer your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears". He quotes the passage as being from the book of Job 3:10, it is actually from Joel 3:10.
