Storyline

Seventeen year-old Nell Margaret Sweetzer is found completely insane when trying to explain her possession by the demon called Abalam. After medical and psychological treatment, she is sent to the Deveraux transition house in New Orleans managed by Frank Merle, who helps her to start a new life. She finds a job as a hotel housekeeper, befriends her new roommates, and develops a crush on her coworker, Chris. Soon, Nell comes to realize that she is haunted by people from her cult... and by the same evil force that once possessed her. When Nell meets Miss Cecile, she tells Nell that she has been following her since the hospital. Further, she discloses that she belongs to the sect Order of The Right Hand, and that they can protect her from the evil in an attempt to divert the prophecy of an apocalypse. Will Nell accept help, and be protected from the extremely powerful, evil force Abalam -- Or will she come to accept... herself? Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Trivia

Sony Pictures had expressed interest in developing a third film after this film's modest box office success (grossing over $25 million on a $5 million budget). Ashley Bell said in interviews that she was open to reprising her role again as Nell. The third film was never made due to a lack of public interest in the franchise. See more »

Goofs

The movie begins with Nell showing up in a stranger's house alone. How she escaped from the cult that was holding her captive at the end of the previous movie is never addressed or even questioned. See more »

Alternate Versions

When originally released theatrically in the UK and US, the BBFC and MPAA made cuts to secure a '15' rating in the UK and a 'PG-13' rating in the US. These cuts totaled around 44 seconds and were a couple of innocuous changes. The cuts are to a scene where Neil slits his throat and Chris tries to stem the blood loss. All cuts were waived later in 2013 for the DVD and Blu-Ray releases in both the UK and US with '15' (uncut) and unrated ratings applied accordingly. See more »

Good horror flick!
11 June 2013 | by sal10851See all my reviews

Nell Sweetzer tries to rebuild her life right after the events depicted in the first film. Now living in home for girls she tries to forget the horrific events she experienced only to find out that they are all too real.

This is a good sequel to the first in which the demons true intentions are revealed. It uses classic horror tactics and stays away from the traditional exorcism films. The plot was well grounded and the acting specially from Ashley Bell was outstanding. This was not filmed in the found footage style which adds more depth to the story. The ending to this film was definitely my favorite part and I enjoyed this good old fashioned horror flick.

I was rather skeptical at first due to the low ratings on IMDb but I keep forgetting that horror films are not for everyone but if you do enjoy them this is a must see!! 7/10.
